One would never know it going by what we here from fleet owners in here and all the trouble they have finding good drivers or even drivers at all.

Well, haven't read the article yet, but I've never seen so many drivers wanted ads as I have recently in places like craigslist and backpage, and that's only just two of the popular sites for job seekers.

Between insurance companies trying for zero risk, and increasingly intrusive DOT regulations, CSA 2010 in particular, in trying to squeeze out all but the perfect drivers, it's no wonder carriers have a hard time in recruiting drivers, younger drivers in particular. The industry is becoming more trouble than it's worth for many otherwise good drivers.

There are plenty of good drivers with cdl who haven't driven a few years and some companies won't touch them. They want young drivers new to it.

Don't sound like they are that hard up for drivers.

I am with Turtle on this one. A lot of drivers 40 to 60 are just tired of the crap. So they are hanging it up. Problem is they don't have replacements for them.

The crap part is right. My short time riding with my sol and doing some of the driving and going thru weigh stations and all the other, you can have it, expediting is more fun and a lot less hassle. Truck driving a big rig wears on your mind way to much, imho.

Talking to a Schneider driver who is interested in expediting. He is a Class A T/T driver (solo) who mentioned that he spent 45 minutes sliding his tandems the other day to get it legal.
