On the plus I look to the bigger carriers as a source of my revenue....as I service your customers......
and as a single operator you bigger carriers are not any competition...we are more partners....:)

Exactly what I was trying to say. We like good small carriers that do it right. They help us to service our customers and provide better service by offering more coverage options.

Yes...or a small carrier like Crossroads or Demaris that is NOT a member of Teanna.....and IF and I am saying IF you members make some kind of pact or agreement only to deal with VOI complaint carriers you've effectively froze out the small operators from competition and you bigger carriers get what you want....less competition....and restrict fair trade.
what If scenerio....WHAT IF

I have said the very same thing from the start. I don't change course.

So Mr Elliott...in your opinion....will VOI be the industry standard?....or just the vetting we have now with our respective partners?

My opinion is more carriers and providers will look to it. Insurance fraud is rampant and it is often hard to find easily especially for a small provider that doesn't have the staff and resources. Some big accidents and lawsuits from these insurance scenarios are playing out right now. I think it adds one more layer of verification and protection. Will everyone do it? I don't think so but I think it will grow. Much like being a TIA platinum broker or a gold book broker.

Now maybe something else will come along that will help the situation. Most of the insurance industry is really starting to see the problem and you are seeing more and more of the rogue carriers get cancelled or not renewed.

Personally when an owner operator is looking at a carrier I would always look at how long pay is held and I would also go onto safer and look at insurance history. You can often learn a lot about a company based on what you find there.

i wouldnt say the small carriers will be exempted, they can always choose to join TEANNA, but if not the carriers can choose to alter their rules like Load 1 did for CRE and do business anyways.

Like Augusta could pick its own members? LOL

A simple lawsuit and a sob story could put an end to that.

;)

The organization has excellent legal council and I know they review all these type things in advance.

Augusta was a whole different situation. That was based on sex. Discrimination is a completely different arena Hawk.

Why don't they join TEANA? It doesn't cost a lot to join. The benefits of joining TEANA can help any small carrier grow their business ten fold. I would rather do business with a company that I know has the right insurance. VOI I see as a great benefit for smaller carriers. There is less of a chance of a small carrier going out of business if VOI is done.

Check out a book called " More Wealth Without Risk" by Charles J. Givens. Read the part about insurance. It's a great read, I read it back in 1992.

why not the American Trucking Association as well?....heck lets go with the Teamsters while we are at it....
maybe have OOIDA represent my interests, they have great legal staff....

Come on Dave....that is to the point of ALMOST forced membership to achieve benefits from a closed shop....

give me your $600 and we'll see you get better loads and protection....stinks of racketeering. IMO

IMO this verification should be handled third party by people who don't have any stake in the business...

I looks like insurance problems are not associated only with expediting. I read that Amtrak has a cap on liability of only $200M and was voted in so they could get affordable insurance. It looks like this accident will cost more than that, so some people will not get paid. But I am sure the lawyers will get paid first.

As a side note, it is interesting how a company that is funded by the government can do this kind of crap, but a private company won't get any breaks.

Membership or certification does not guarantee more loads? It simply helps create reputation and opportunities to network with like minded peers. Seeing as it is a trade organization and it isn't owned by its members it is in fact a third party.

You seem adamant on your stance. But why you are choosing this fight is beyond me. I think CRE does things right. Should they choose to enhance the company thru TEANA membership, VOI, hazmat, white glove, brokerage or whatever it is the choice of the carriers management or ownership. I am sure Murray will pilot his ship as he sees fit.

Augusta is a private club and as such has freedom of association.

third party would rule out TEANA, since brokers/carriers/trucking companies make up the most part, along with the insurance companies, and others that they do business with...hard to find a true third party...outside of the trucking business....might as well go with the BBB or Chamber of Commerce, or CPSC, etc...
