No, it really doesn't do anything that you can't do with your computer but as I said, you can't use your computer on the fly so it's a convenience more than anything. If I want a fast look at anything that I would normally look at on my computer, I can do that.
One of the applications that I use the most is Radar now. Within seconds you can see the radar view of your current location. I don't like storms (tornado in 74) and I appreciate being able to see if a storm has finished or if there's more on the way, etc. as well as all the watches and warnings.
As I said, it's more of a tool....a mini-computer if you will.
I have the Motorola Droid and love it, living in the midwest with the many storms and weather fronts, the radar is a valuable tool. Not sure what you use but I have the WeatherBug app and it sends alerts of upcoming weather, this is a free app BTW.
It is a mini computer and I use it alot while waiting to be unload at stops.
I don't really use the keyboard too often, my fingers are to large to get to the top line. The virtual keyboard is the one I use most often with no problems. I was considering the HTC droid since it didn't have the slide out keyboard, but the screen was slightly smaller. If they come out with one with a larger screen but no keyboard, I might opt for that when upgrade time comes.
If you get one bypass the accessories counter and go straight to Amazon.com I got everything I need charger, cover and screen protectors for a great price, the phone stores markup on these items is ridiculous. I use the Seidio case since it had the best reviews and it is nice, it doesn't make the phone more bulky like the bodyglove case does.
At this point if Verizon picked up the Iphone I'd stick with my Droid
Almost forgot how many times I use the yellowbook app to look up phone numbers for the companies I am delivering too. Much quicker then calling the dispatcher who has to call the forwarder to get the info I LOVE IT
