NJ Truck stops

Hello All, I had spent some time in the North New Jersey area last October as a solo. I had a co driver for a few months and I am now back to being solo. I will be back in the Newark NJ area and I plan on being there for some time. Anyone have some suggestions for a decent truck stop around there. I know there are a few off of the NJ TPK but there does not seem to be a good selection. Also, I am concerned with safety some of the places seem a bit rough. Any info would be great. Thanks!

The last time I was in the Newark area I think I went back toward PA on I-78 and stayed at a TA. I think it was around exit 7. There were also a couple places around exit 13 or thereabouts as well. That's as much as I can remember since it's been a couple months since I was around there.

Jeez - I can't even remember places I went to last week, let alone a few months ago. which is why I am very fond of "The Next Exit" (available at Flying J's, and thanks to FreightShaker for showing me his. Book! His book, ok?!) It lists every interstate in the lower 48 states, and what's at every exit, with RV friendly places in red print. Makes it much easier to find the closest truckstop, WalMart, or Cracker Barrel. :)

On the subject of Joisey, there was a bit in USA Today the other day, about a GPS snafu in Seacaucus: the GPS doesn't seem to know about a fence between the industrial park & the residential neighborhood, and is causing a backup of trucks on 5th Street, so if you're going thataway, probly best to call ahead..

The only TA that I know is I 80 exit 4. Not many truckstops in Jersey. I just ask the consignee if I can crash on their lot. 3200 miles this week. Not much time for dh. I'm off for a couple of days.:)

the best exit guide was called "exit guide" they stopped making it about 6 years ago, i sure wish they would start it up again the one I have is so old that it is falling apart and very outdated it still shows which truckstops have pnv in them, and lists the williams truckstops also sure wish pilot hadn't bought them out
