Nissan Enters Expediting...

It is always interesting to see what a vehicle starts out like as a concept vehicle and what it ends up like in production. You can count on Nissan making more changes in the future. I can tell you that your comments are being heard and future options will be available.
Well you've heard what we need...minimum of 12 feet of cargo space and a payload of a minimum of 2500 lbs. MPG's should be 18 or better...can they do it?
Some say we are a niche market...but we are a repeat niche market....there are thousands/tens of thousands of possible buyers.....we are a viable market.

OVM, get real, viable market?

If we were making consistent money across the board where people would never fail and had more or less a united front to present companies, we would get more notice as a market.

The potential from your point of view is a lot different than that of the market researchers at these companies. Why do you think that Daimler doesn't modify the 3500 for American pallets or make a freight hauling package - they don't see the potential and never have.

Nissan has a specific market to go after and the cost to them to setup a package or modification would not be justified in today's business world for sales under 10,000 units a year.

From what I'm told by the Nissan people who let me use one of their sale demo vehicles, they don't consider this market viable to put a lot of money into it and may just do what GM did. Their focus is the same as the sprinter versions used for the building trades industry, plumbers, carpenters, etc. ... . GM and Ford has yet to offer a real expediter package and they sell a lot of vans, GM has/had a modified version of their finished interior kit for the cargo van which is ripped out of many of them by people who are in this business.

I think I asked this before, you represent the company or a dealer or what?

I would like to see 144" of floor space, 150"-160" wheelbase, a 6 speed transmission and a 10,000 GVWR. Oh, and a bud vase holder incorporated into the dashboard.

Yes we are viable...think backwards...first expedite market then spin off down to the trades..everyone thinks trades first..then there is the ambulance/emergency services..there is no way the trades can carry the tools and then slide in a 10' skid of drywall....

Better yet, put the GVWR at 9900 so it's good to go in Ontario.

George delivers freight every day! He doesn't sit around with his 12 volt icemaker dreaming about fold out sidewalls. (smiley face)

I don't have a 12 volt icemaker....mine runs off strictly AC...smarty pants...but I do love that fold down wall....one I will be exploring...for a Sprinter conversion

I work at the Fort Wayne Nissan Dealership. I am offering the vans as an option. I know it will not fit everyone's needs. Here is a photo of a van with the etrack.

Thanks for the clarification.

I understand the dealer looking at the market, it is different than the company.

BUT I have to ask - why the etrack so high on the walls and why not ftrack?

I'd like to see some drivers fit through that bulkhead door:eek::rolleyes:
looking at the picture it looks like it doesn't open, i believe most expeditors would want access to the rest of their living space, while unloaded.

What are the yellow brackets on the roof? Does the bulkhead open? It looks like it does but like it doesn't and the etrack looks like a solid piece. What is the floor length from bulkhead to cargo doors?

I could certrainly be wrong, but my guess is that that is a picture of a "customers" van and not a unit set up to be sold by the dealer...the placement of the e-track was probably where the customer wanted it..look at the insulation and e-track OVER the door in the bulkhead...the yellow brackets are part of a "trolley" system that is installed down the center of the interior roof...

I am also thinking this is NOT an expediters van either...

This van was custom built for an extreme parachuting club. The trolley is used to attach one end of the static cord to. Geronimo!
