Welcome to EO, Jey, and good luck to you - though you can improve on luck considerably by reading the great help offered here, and maybe attending a seminar or two, sponsored by EO - it's priceless help, offered for free - what a great combination! :)

Yes, welcome on board! Depending at what age you are retireing, you may want to give some thinking to the fact that there have been a number of trucks for sale for health reasons. That may be a factor for spending for a truck for you. For some the rigors of this endeavor may speed up some lurking individual problems. Just suggesting you make sure all is a ok before any large comittment.

If you haven't signed for the truck yet I would STRONGLY urge you to not do so until you have read through at least a full year of the general, newbies and recruiter forum sections. I could be mistaken but your initial post sounds like someone who on a lark decided expediting might be a way to be a paid tourist. That's a pretty sure way to barely succeed. You need to seriously research this business including financials and perhaps drive for an owner for several months to learn the business and determine if it's really for you.

Consider that FedEx Custom Critical has a passenger policy that may allow your wife to ride-along if you purchase the insuranec they would require. She would not be allowed to drive unless she was a CDL holder and recognized as your co-driver after you satisfy the carrier's driver policy. Notwithstanding the carrier's policies, she can't drive a commercial vehicle without a CDL.
