Newbie with questions

Hi guys and girls. I'm a Class B driver w/ hazmat in Ohio looking to start off as a driver for an O/O or company if any hire just drivers. Their are some things I'm trying to grasp. I don't want to get ripped off yet I need to get to work ASAP. What is a 60-40 split? He said I would be payed 15 days after pod. The O/O said I would be responsible for gas & tolls only. He has a Panther II truck and he said I would get 1.20 pm and average 1700 per week. The guy who was driving it just up and quit. I'm wondering why. I have been reading the sacrifices that OTR drivers make and I feel I'm ready. Are their ANY company's that will just hire a driver? Should I get a contract from an O/O?

call the Panther recruiting dept. They have a gent there that works with fleet owners. He will be able to hook you up with someone.

You can also call Scott Hancock at Express-1 at 1800-800-5161. He can hook you up with owners there. I will tell you if he tells you call me, I will be glad to talk with you but no need to ask for a seat. I have none open and my personal one is on fire. Scott can help you find someone at E1 if you have the right experience. If you need any other help feel free to email me but keep in mind I do drive so I am not always a quick reply.

Thanks you guys. The gentlemen I've contacted is actually on this website under "Drivers wanted." I've driven a dump truck , school bus, and a straight truck all for about 6 months. I will call Panther tomorrow and I would like to thank each of you for your response. The net sure does help.
