New york state new law 5 points on your licence

Starting today distracted driving will carrry a 5 points in new york state In addition to youre Fines and DAC reccord and fines you will pay NYS 100.00 per point for three years or they suspend youre licence.

Im short on time now but, Ill add details later.

what is 'point on your license' ?
is that a state thing?
do they effect dalmatian truckers?
can we redeem a meal for them?
can we redeem such meal in another state?
if i take them to Minnesota, will they freeze? {pone intended!}

In a commercial vehicle you do get penalized for using a handheld device phone even if it is attached to a surface.

Correct ?

Correct, you are not allowed to 'reach' for it.
the Gov. needs to know where your hands are. :eek:
once Phil start his new endeavor, he will soon realize how those 'gym equipments pulse detectors' can be used on steering wheels to ensure the driver have his 2 hands on the 10/2 o'clock.
Phil is going to be rich selling his devices to safety groups.

10 & 2 is old school it has been changed now to 10 & 3 because of too many people getting their rists broken when an airbag deploys I heard.

Nope. There would be no such market because the device could be easily defeated by duct taping a hamster to the steering wheel.

Thanks Moose, That cracked me up.

Unfortunately the points that NYS DMV put on your licence jacks your insurance. and in some states five will suspend or revoke your licence. Theese points are in addition to the points that hit your DAC and FMCSA score.
The fine im sure will be betwene $350.00 to $500.00 especialy in a C.M.V. Yep NYS will compound the fine if you are in a C.M.V. I couldnt find the stats on the fine yet but I will be watching. Add a mininum $80.00 surcharge that is mandated by New York State DMV and yu have allot of money.

BTW the screaching psudo fuher Andrew Como who dictates NYS has his sights on the white house for 2016.

Yes I totaly want to sell the house and move to annother state that actualy welcomes those who want to make somthing of them selves. And that dosent tax and fine somone into oblivian.

I will be following this closely as the term DISTRACTED DRIVING is a verry loose term and could be used when Barney one Bullet sees you sipping your coffee or eating a candy bar .

Bob Wolf: the reason I posted the official announcement of the NY law is the clarification of your statement regarding points - you say 5, the Gov says "increased from 2 to 3".
I guess you didn't read the link, because you again stated it will be 5 points - where are you getting that from? :confused:

Also: the link states "the financial penalty for violations will be a fine of up to [emphasis mine] $150.00" so where are you getting your numbers of up to $500.00?

Date on that notice is July 12 2011 This new law took effect at Saturday morning June 1st at 12:01 am. I guess theres one good thing to living in the Peoples Republic of N.Y.

It was announced on WBEN Buffalo NY radio station.
Go to wben.com and search new texting law you will find it.

Ok what found pertains to texting and using handheld devices which I'm sure we are all smart enough here not to do. Don't do it and no worries.

Btw bob this has nothing to do with dac. That is only for the companies to report to. Some will report it some wont.

I thought all violations went on it. Either way its just annother revenue sorce. Im not worried as I have a flip phone and its almost pointless to try texting the screen is too small.

I just wanted to get the word out.
