Relax, JoeBob, the George Washington bridge is no worse than the Ambassador - and the graffiti is cool to look at while you wait in line, too.;)

I'd be real flattered by that, except I suspect it just means I'm the kind who's breathing, lol:p

Nightcreacher , do you think he needs a quick lesson on how to interpert clearance signs in Brooklyn ? I can just picture the quick stops , head scratching and driving slowly under the bridges after seeing other trucks clear . The horn blowing and one finger salutes just add to the fun .

We and a lot of other trucks take the I278 across the Verrazano - Narrows bridge into Brooklyn from Elizabeth NJ. There are no tunnels that we saw. There is one overpass that has a huge sign all trucks must exit here, stay in the middle lane and follow the truck in front of you they don't slow down a bit. We got off once there to turn around and there are people just waiting for trucks to exit so they can tell you how to get where you are going for a nominal fee!

I drive, listen to sirius look out my window ..back up again they take it off .. and mail me money!!

After PU jump onto NJ Turnpike south bound to exit 13 get onto 278 cross over Goethals Bridge drive thru Staten Island. The large mountain range you pass isn’t a sky resort but NY City’s closed Fresh Kill Landfill...lol. Cross over Verrazano Narrows Bridge and you’re in Brooklyn the 3rd most populous city in the USA behind LA and Chicago

Good info, John - does anyone know if there's anywhere on Staten Island where you can see the Statue of Liberty? Without doing the tourist thing, I mean - just driving or parking.

Thanks Cheri

You’re about 6 miles away from Statue of Liberty when you go over Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Viewing from Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ is the closest one can get to see statue...

Great thing about the Appalachian Trail (AT) it'll be there for all to enjoy forever, so no rush. I volunteered for 3 years as editor for the Appalachian Trail Thru-Hikers' Handbook. A large number of thru-hikers are retired. Thru-hiker's are those who hike the entire Trail all 2,175 miles in one year.

Glad to see you take the time to enjoy our wilderness areas.

I'll tell ya right now...don't miss your exit and approach a tunnel. the fine is $150 just to turn around at the toll booth at the queens midtown tunnel me thinks.
