New Information concerning scales in Michigan

Hi Everyone: When Late for dinner posted about the ticket he received I really thought it was far fetched and reaching by the MSP. Today I had a conversation with Lt Archambault. He is with the Motor Carrier Division. He told me their interpretation is that we need to scale when the scales are open. We had a lengthly conversation because I needed to know because our company runs both cargo vans as well as big trucks. I for one while operating a van will cross the scales. He is the commander of the Fowlerville Mi scales. Basically the MSP now considers cargo vans (marked ones) that haul freight as trucks and they are enforcing the laws. Whether they will chase us down or not for bypassing is the question. Probably not but as he said is it worth the chance for a ticket. Be safe out there everyone.

Thanx Dawggone. we finally got a knowledgeable reference with a name. The ambiguous laws of Michigan notwithstanding, it only takes one MSP Officer to make the necessity of entering Michigan scales a reality worth heeding to avoid the potential of a ticket. Thnaks to you and Late For Lunch for saving the rest of us the hassles and expense of a violation

Where on earth do they find these brain surgeons??? A typical ambiguous answer: "It is our interpretation that you must scale if the scales are open" Like anyone would scale if they were closed??????
Makes you wonder if he even heard the part of the question about cargo vans.
I think they must be jealous of us drivers out here making all this big money driving vans and cube trucks. The only million I will ever make will be on the odometer not in the bank account.

If you hit 1 million on the odometer and haven't made a million dollars, then you are running to cheap.

JUST SAY NO TO CHEAP FREIGHT
