Hello everyone,
I've been reasearching this industry for quite awhile.
First off, let me say THANKS to everyone here for all the great information about expediting.
I am no stranger to trucking, I've been a bedbugger for 20+ years in a straight truck. The household goods trucking industry has changed a lot over the years. I have been considering expediting for a few years now. Hhgs rates have been lowered to a point that it doesn't seem worth all the exta effort. Not to mention the liability, back breaking loading and unloading, etc.
I am looking forward to joining the ranks here in the expediting world.

Expediting rates are suffering too,but at least you don't have to unload furniture. If you have a CDL check out the Driver Wanted adds here at EO,someone is always looking. Best bet is to find a partner to team with though.

Yes, rates are down everywhere in the trucking industry.
I've had a CDL since its inception in '92 (?),I was driving before that.
I am currenlty an O/O, but my straight truck is not going to work for expediting. It is set up for furniture.

Not looking to team. I have been a solo driver and would prefer to remain one.
I've spoke with a few carriers, now im going to check out the fleet owners. I would like to see which one best works for me to get my feet wet in expediting.
I am really considering the fleet owner approach. I just need to talk to a few a see if I can find a good fit, temporarily.

Compared to when? Rates are up this year compared to last year, way up.

Sent from my SCH-I535 using EO Forums mobile app

I guess it depends on far one has the ability to look back.

Thanks Lawrence.
I'm still researching at the moment. As an O/O for 20+ years, it's going to be a different world driving for a fleet owner. Although I guess it will be good for the fleet owner since I am already in the habit of taking care of equipment and watching the margins.
