Hi im Jacob im new into this and I wanted to get into trucking What Companys and vehicles are best ? I been looking at Landstar. I dont have My CDL so please help me with all this its all new to me

Jacob, have you been reading back in the archives? Are you over age 21? Any reason you would be disqualified from holding a CDL? Any substance abuse or arrest record? Expediting is a tiny niche within trucking. What attracts you to expediting? Have you researched the industry or spoken with veteran drivers? What size truck do you wish to drive? Planning on being an owner-operator or drive for a fleet owner? Many questions. Many considerations.

before you get into expediting you better have a large cash reserve. This is a bad time for expediting and there is a large learning curve. Landstar pays well but they sit more

if you dont have your cdl yet forget about landstar they wont put you on without experience......try FedEx till you get your six months in then move to landstar.....been with both, landstar is by far the better company despite what all these team corporate stooges say......I dont need someone to hold my hand....just someone to pay me fairly...yes you probably sit more but i dont drive for less then 1.40 a mile and the feds current rates just simply suck. Aint no two ways about it, you cant make it as a solo with them due to their mileage caps. But you have to take your lumps to get your time in. Get a cheap class 8, spend no more then 20 to 30 grand and you can ride it out. your operating costs will be 60 to 70 cents a mile so your not going to have much left to work with but if you want to do it then best of luck. Remember if you can outlast the bad times it will lead to the good times especially now with the amount of people failing in this industry. Sad but True.
