OVM, you're right on - there is an oppotunity RIGHT NOW for someone in the GOP to step up and be a leader. Their ship is adrift and rudderless right now, and it seems nobody in the party wants to jump in to offer substantive ideas. However, I don't think this void will last - one of the younger lions will challenge the establishment and move to the front. I'll bet we'll see this soon - before the Fall elections. Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, Michelle Bachman - someone like that will assemble their wealthy supporters and make the leap. Maybe Mitt Romney, but I doubt it - but for some reason, he can't seem to muster the gravitas (excuse the outdated term).

If Barton didn't apologize then retract it and then apologized for making it, I would then say they are getting it together but ... come on ... Steele needs to get out of there, hire someone who can advise a new leader and be as aggressive as the party can.
