There are no standards because there is no mandatory sleep study, least not by the FMCSA.
All right, let's have it. What minor point is the difference here?
Turtle did not mention any minor point....so what is yours? he answered the question
There's apparently a technical problem with my question of which I'm unaware, one that one could choose to not interpret in the way one knows is consistent with the question, and answering it that way results in a nonsensical answer, similar to Clinton's "There IS no inappropriate relationship...depends on what the definition of 'is' is."
We've discussed the mandatory sleep study thing here several times, but I can't come up with the right search terms to find it.
Is Turtle saying it's not a federal thing but the States are doing it?
It is not a rule yet, but it will be. Definitely not rumor nor truck stop chatter. It's going to happen.
Regarding the minor point thing........what DaveKC said.

carriers can ask whatever they want to as a condition to employment....look at us CV'ers for example....FORCED to do a DOT even tho we are NOT legally required to do so...With the new rule that one has to have their physical on file with their state DMV or equivalent, wasn't part of that that you would be able to get your physical anywhere? It may be that the company that does our physicals has such a sleep study policy. Another driver--substantially fatter than me-- was telling me how he evaded it last time.
I got a physical a few weeks ago. Tough Dr.
No mention of BMI or sleep study.
Do you look like someone who fits the profile of a sleep study victim i.e. a fat guy, thick neck, etc? In what state was this?
At my last one, they did the routine with the tape measure around my neck, the questionnaire, BMI calculation, just said the sleep study wasn't yet a requirement, but that it would be.
