New Border Re-Entry Charge by USDA

Effective Nov. 24, 2006, U.S. Customs will begin charging each commercial motor vehicle entering the United States an additional fee of $5.25 per entry. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is assessing this fee in order to cover the expense of more truck inspections at the border.

For the remainder of 2006, please pay the fee as you re-enter the United States. Starting in 2007, the fee will become part of your annual transponder renewal. This means transponders will cost $205 to renew ($100 for the existing U.S. Customs annual fee and $105 for the new USDA annual fee).

I guess we just don't pay enough in taxes to cover the cost of our government. Those congressmen cost alot. What a waste. Why don't they all resign? Just what we need, ANOTHER tax. Layoutshooter

Not really,but with all this revenue that will be flowing their way I expect that they will be building brand new facilities at all the major crossings.

Whow thats the job for me.Spend all I can and not have to show anything for it.Where do I apply.

I got an idea:lets go back to where we didn't house, feed or supply transportation to our polititions.They keep on patting themselves on the back for their public service.I call it welfare.

Wonder how well it will be enforced. I've gotten by many times with out having to pay the $5. Even one time the lady was distracted by a phone call she didn't even ask for ID. But if your w/ panther you get 37.5 for going in, and if you get a load out another 37.5, at most with tolls and taxes your still getting another 60 for just going across the border.
