I just bought a 1 ton van and am leased to A.S.A.P in Taylor Mi,I have only been there for 3 weeks.
The loads have been few and far between,I was told that the average pay was 700.00 to 1500.00 a week, for 2 weeks I have brought home under 400.00 and 1 week 1400.00 is this normal or should I look someplace else, I only get paid for loaded miles. also, I was reading about geting your own authority, where could I learn more about this, and is it worth it in the long run.
Thanks
Cheryl

Cheryl,

I would say for this time of year that is average. We usually sit around and grumble until sometime in April, things usually start picking up around then. It will usually be pretty good until the end of July when the auto plants go on shutdown. Then we run like crazy until Christmas.

Good luck, keep a positive attitude :)

I hope you did yourself a favor and read the link that Lawrence posted for you to read. Most of all I hope you took heave to what it's all about. Some of the things you read in these posts are B-S and posted from frustrated drivers just blowing off steam. If you were to take a pull 50% or more of those talking about an authority don't even know what it means. Remember! Rome wasn't built in one day!!! or was it???? Don't become the statue.

I agree with the previous answers concerning own authority; now I have a question for you. Has your relationship with ASAP improved, I have been considering contacting them also. Since you have first information concerning them, I would appreciate your feedback.
Thanks, dog

Hi Cheryl:

I'm surprised to hear you're slow, we have had all the work we want. We've been with ASAP since last year and have had very few slow days. I realize there are differences between a van and a truck and between team and solo (which I assume you are).

Look for the silver International and we'll buy you a cup next time we're at Madco. ;-)
