need sprinter van help

I am just getting on my feet after being released from prison. Can someone help me into a sprinter van to haul my own expedited freight in the usa only? If a company won't lease me on and then I want to bid for my own freight. If someone can help me with a van to get me working please let me know or a cargo can will work and work my way into a sprinter. I am vary dependable and drove from 2002-2006

I am not trying to be rude but it is pretty unlikely. Most fleet owners have their Sprinters signed on with a company that will most likely disqualify you on top of that there is a money issue. You would need a minimum of ten thousand dollars to run yourself and that is a very low figure, just because you deliver the load on Monday doesn't mean you get paid on Friday, you may not get paid for a couple of months unless you hauled something for a broker with a low credit score which could mean you never see a penny. Even if you are running for someone else you will want around $7500 to cover your expenses along with the fuel you will have to pay for. I would caution you to watch out for a company that would take you and make it seem as though you will be rolling in dough, just type in the company name in the search area here to see if anything comes up or type in the name with the word complaint after it in a search engine so you don't get burned by some scum bag. Just be careful.

Honestly, your best bet would be to drive for a fleet owner for 6 months or so to be sure the lifestyle is conducive to your goals and objectives.

Don't let your past discourage you from getting back on your feet. There are plenty of carriers(mostly the smaller ones) that will lease you on despite a record, depending on the reason(s) behind it.

Cargo vans are the bottom feeders. Lowest of the low, just below Sprinters. Vans are also the number one vehicle of choice for perverts, burglars, CIA, hippies, FBI, dog groomers, plumbers and expediters. I'm sure the OP's parole officer steered him/her to a Sprinter rather than a cargo van.

My point was that for a convicted felon is much easyer to get in to a cargo van than in a sprinter. If you would have a $ 15k sprinter and a 5k van in your fleet ,wich one would you give him?I just wanted to give gim an advice..

benard,
I won't say much about being a felon but that shouldn't be a problem with a few owners. Companies may or may not allow it and if you are on parole, you may not be allowed to cross into another state. My recommendations are simple, apply to as many companies as you can, see if you qualify for a company through their application process and once you do, ask them for help to find an owner to put you in a van.

The other thing I will mention is getting an authority does take money, but in your case my be the thing you want to do. Vans are cheap, I mean cheap and having your own authority you won't run into the PIA age issue - because you own the company.

1st ... dont get a sprinter a friend of mine is getting a new transmission at 47000 mi... look for a GM 3500 under 10000 $ a company whitout expenses like Expressway, T&K

My probation office will place a ankle bracelet on me so I can cross state lines and come home 1-2 times a month for checkin. I desprite for work to go back to driving a sprinter cargo van. I just sent messages to several expediter co. I hoping for Bolt. I thought it would not be that costly to get my own authorty in a sprinter and bid on freight. I like the vans for there no log books to worry about. I am vary dependable on time and i also do a non-profit I started to help people at morrisinmateservices.org. My main goal is get a jab to drive again in a van of some type and move up if I need to, so i pray someone can help me. [email protected]

Companies are very unlikely to bring you in since you are still considered property of the state and the state can revoke your freedom at will.

But you can get major tax breaks and matching moneys for hiring parolies. My friend in Dallas only hires federal work release inmates to drive his dump trucks the feds add some money to his side and it all works out great for him. And the paroled inmate.

God bless and stay strong and focus small for now. Start with driving and work your way up the ladder. Many of the small fleet owners will hire you on.

Am I the only one going " Nah this can't be real " But what can I say..... If a company hires you and that is a big if. What happens if you get stuck in Laredo and there are no loads to be found are you going to deadhead back to meet with your parole officer or is he gonna let ya "slide" on missing an appointment.

I would say he will have to skype from nuevo laredo at the cantina with the PO. Or android video chat from the j or ta !

Just don't eat from the taco bus man last time I ate their tacos I camped out in the ta bathroom wow some potent taco meat LOL
