All I can say is Good luck. you may not be able to find a large
company to work for. A smaller company may be your best
bet. An owner operator that needs a driver.. not like Panther etc.

My son got 2 speeding tickets about 3 yrs ago and his license
(commercial part) was suspended for 60 days and people
still won't talk to him. He has to wait until Oct 2008 before
they are off his record. Thank God he has his own truck and insurance and didn't really need a job.. other than the fact
that he thought he would sell his truck at one time.

Probably going to be very hard to get hired with 2 dui's
on your record.

You have two strikes against you. You already know about the DUI and have taken remedial action. Time is on your side on that one.

The other strike is the present economic slowdown. This has boosted the supply of trained and experienced drivers to higher-than-normal levels. Time is on your side on this one too, but it will take some time for things to turn around.

See a recent ToledoBlade.com article (Associated Press) about this.

Excerpt:

"But as the cost of diesel fuel soars and the economy slows, hundreds of small to midsized trucking outfits are folding - leaving legions of trained drivers looking for work. "It used to be the drivers who could pick and choose," Mr. Lingyak said. "Now we can pick and choose."

Phil,
We all have that against us, get real.

Gopackers,
I would normally say too bad but here is the thing, you have tractor experience, and that counts for something. There are hundreds of companies out there who may be looking for somewhat stable people to work for them, so I would start calling and writing.

BUT I got to say this, you may not find the job you want, you may end up with a job that truly sucks and is a pain to deal with but right now take anything you can get in this business and stick it out.

the dui's are going to be against you with any company that goes in and out of canada. That pretty much lets you out of the expedite business.if you look around ,it might not be the best pay,but im sure there is a company somewhere that might hire you

I dont think that is the case..maybe so for FECC but not with all expedite carriers, PII for example does not require you to go to Canada, not to sure about the others...that being said, some might say that it will decrease you load chances and possible revenue, but, I for one, do not run Canada, nor do I run Haz-Mat.. and am truely happy with the money that I make.
