Neat Receipts - scanner

For the past three years I have been scanning in all of my receipts and I have to admit it really has saved our behinds a couple of times or at least made our lives a lot easier.

One of the reasons it has helped us so much is that since we do not go home often I always have receipts with me. When we need warranty work I print out the receipt and when filling out the application for Landstar everything I needed was at my fingertips while the original was safe at home.

Now though I have a dilemma as I have broken the Neat Receipts scanner for the second time. The scanner just CANNOT handle me dropping it and once again I have broken the glass inside the scanner. I am not going to replace it as the darn thing is expensive.

I have decided in 2015 that I am going to use my printer/scanner that has been in the past three trucks. This scanner is going to start working harder.

My goal with scanning my receipts was to have them in case of an audit and also to use them for warranty and I can create my own file folders and do the same thing. Easily I can create the same files I had with Neat Receipts and scan to these folders. Over the years I have gotten better at naming files and I think that with my MAC this system is really going to work well for me.

We have been looking for a small printer scanner with fax, and not found one for our van. Which one do you have and how big is it?

Can't say what Linda has but I have an HP 15xx, I think they made both a 1510 and 1512, anyway seems to work OK for ptinting and scanning, fox FAX I think you have to quite a bit bigger, I have an Internet based FAX service, basically you scan to PDF and it sends that to a FAX number, incoming is just a PDF attached to an email you do get a FAX number with the service.

I do not have fax only scan/copy/print and I have a Epson Stylus NX330 that is wireless my favorite feature.

The printer is in a cabinet and I can print from anywhere in the truck from my MAC or from Windows.

We have the nx430...pretty much the same. Cost a little over $100 and has been bouncing down the road with us almost 3 years. Its nice to be able to print stuff, make copies, etc.

I've had a handheld scanner [like Neat Receipts, but waaay less expensive] for 8 or 9 years, though I don't use it anymore, because Load 1 provides one that works the same way.
I also like an app called Drive Axle, that sends a photo to any fax or email [I send them to myself, and they look crisper than the originals!] from your smartphone. Because the one paper you don't have a copy of is the one you will need, every time.

I use the hp100 compact be tooth printer, I use a brother ds mobile 620 scanner for my paperwork, and use a cam scan app in my phone to scan documents and either print, fax, or email them from my phone.

hossman 2011 what is the quality of the cam scan app on your phone? What does it cost to fax those documents? Interested in trying this but would sure be interested in what you think of this product and the results.

Love the cam scan product. Very good quality and converts to pdf's. I also use the print share app on my phone and print right from my phone. makes it easier not having to get out the laptop. I forgot how much the cam scan cost so I looked and it is 49.99 for a year and that is unlimited faxing and emailing.I use it on average 3 to 4 times a month faxing paperwork for jobs.

I looked at the desktop scanner as that is really nice but decided it was to big to carry around in the truck.

The Neat Receipt is a very nice product and it did get me in the habit of scanning all of receipts and other paperwork.

I am just tired of me breaking the scanner and having to buy one every other year when I have a perfectly good scanner in the truck. I will set up my own system to file my receipts for 2015 so that they will be there when needed.
