My ! Yr anniversary

OK, I 'm so excited and proud of myself and wanted to share my success with all of you: today is exactly 1 year that I've kept off the 42 pounds that's haunted me all my life!!! I tried every diet out there and never had any real success till now. Sure, I lost weight on the diets but the weight always came creeping (and sometimes running) back..somtimes bringing their friends to join. I was a butterball all my life and HATED every minute of it. I'm only 4' 10" tall, so every extra pound looks like 10 on me. I had low self esteem and low energy.
I heard about all the great benefits from driinking green tea and although I hated tea (at the time), I figured that I had nothing to lose. I drank it for about a week before each meal and sometimes in between. I got no results and decided to try it for 1 more week. Thank goodness I didn't give up!! 3 days later I noticed that my clothes were a little looser and within a couple of weeks, I started dropping slothing sizes. I've gone from a 14 down to a 3 and have kept it off for a year!
I still eat normally and still eat sweets when I have the urge. I still drink my tea before each meal and in between. I lost the weight slowly, which is what you're supposed to do. I look & feel great and have noticed that I haven't had a cold since I started drinking the tea. My doctor said that I'm in tip top shape and has recommened green tea to many of his overweight patients and tells them of my success. I've been asked to speak to various groups telling them of my success and how they can achieve the same for themselves.
This is the first time in my life that I've ever been able to lose & keep weight off and I just wanted to share my success with you!

A tremendous accomplishment, a 1 yr anniversary to commemorate it AND your 100th forum post to announce it. What a deal! Congratulations on a MAJOR achievement. From a 14 to a 3! So you're that smoking hot lady waiting in line to buy fuel the other day. Best wishes for making your 5000th EO post in 9 yrs to announce the 10th anniversary!

Congratulations!! That's quite an accomplishment.
Yes, a few more details please. I've been thin for my adult life, at least since my 3 kids were born. 5'6 115lbs. The last 2 years I've gained almost 15lbs! It's making me crazy because I don't eat that much, and I am walking....um...sometimes. Did you exercise along with this diet?

I drank a cup of strong green tea before every meal and in between. I still ate the same but the tea took away the urge to snack in between meals most of the time. The tea speeds up your metabolisim which helps you to lose weight. I use the LIPTON tea bags but any brand will do. The key is to make it as strong as you can stand it. The bottled tea has too much 'stuff' in it and will not help you to lose weight.
It's real easy to make & do on the road. If you don't have amicrowave in your truck, you can get hot water from resteraunts & trucks stops or do what I do alot: take a bottle of water & add 2-3 (depending on how strong you want it) tea bags then set it on your dash board for the day. The sun will 'brew' the tea for you. It doesn't matter if you drink the tea hot or cold.....it'll still work. Personally, I can't stand it when it's cold because it tastes bitter to me.. but that's just me.
I could've lost weight faster if I had more will power to give up (or at least lay off) meat & potatoes but I still eat those every day. The good thing about the tea is that you don't have to count calories and it's GOOD for you. Once the weight starts to come off, it'll come off pretty quick at first then taper down till you get at the point where your body says 'enough.' I'd love to be able to drop another 10 pounds but my body is at a stand still, which according to my doctor, is exactly where I'm supposed to be.
Everyone's metabolisim is different: it took 10 days for me to start to lose any weight; it took my husband 6 weeks; and one of my friends a week. Don't give up...it DOES work!!

Ideal weight for a woman, according to some insurance institute, is 100 pounds at 5' plus a 5 pound adjustment per inch diviation from 5' so 5'6" would be 130. For a man I believe it's 115 plus 5 pounds per inch. I'm not fat. I'm just half a foot too short.

Well darn it! I just walked out of WalMart with all the supples for the week. I'm going to run back in and get some green tea. We both love tea so we should be able to do this...okay a cup before each meal and any time in between, right? Now my little electric tea pot will REALLY come in handy! Thanks for sharing this info.

If you can't stand tea another supposedly good method is to eat an apple and drink 12 oz of water a half hour before meal time. Then eat whatever your hunger tells you to eat, not what your eyeballs or heart tells you to eat.

Wow Wingnut that is really really impressive and you should be very proud of yourself!

Leo I agree I am too short for my weight and in time I think I will reach my full height. Though at the rate I am going I will be over seven feet!

One of the hardest things out here is to change your eating habits due to lack of exercise. Raising kids, having a house, and a full time job keeps you moving constantly. With the truck when we are really pushing hard I might only get out once a day and that if for a really short walk.

It is too bad you keep the appetite even though you do not move at all throughout the day.

It is great to hear your weight-loss success story, AND secret to your success -- green tea!

It took some getting used to, but green tea is now an enjoyable beverage in our truck. I have not done the before-meal deal with it but started drinking it out of blood pressure concerns. While it remained under the CDL limits, it was creeping up. Green tea turned that around. That's all it took ... green tea. No other changes in diet, exercise or medication (none) were made. I drank green tea and my blood pressure went down.

Sorry for what follows, folks, but I can't resist.

Layoutshooter,

Green tea is a beverage favored by liberals. New Hampshire Democrats love drinking it in the winter while their Prius warms up in the driveway, they read Mother Earth News and their hemp scarf keeps them warm. You can find it in health food stores and garden co-ops everywhere. Happy shopping! Try not to get any on ya.

Good for you Wingnut!! That is certainly an accomplishment to be proud of.

I have been drinking green tea for some time but never before meals. Since I was never big on drinking water, I started using the "On the Go" green tea. I also carry the Lipton tea bags for when I get tired of drinking coffee. I guess I will have to give up my coffee and just drink the tea - maybe I can loose this extra person I am carrying around with me all the time. :p

Keep up the good work!!

Wingnut, I bought some green tea but I noticed that the Lipton boxes say "Naturally Decaffeinated" and I just was curious about it. Is that what you are using? We are drinking it before our meals and I appreciate your suggestion. Keep up the good work!

I very rarely use the naturally decaff stuff. I don't honestly think it makes much of a difference except for the taste. I've noticed that the decaff stuff doesn't taste as strong as the regular.
Sometimes the regular Lipton green tea is harder to find than the decaff. One of our local Walmarts carries it but the others don't. Go figure! You might want to check with other grocery stores the next time you're in one. I stock up on the regular when I find it.
I wish everyone who is going to try the green tea as much success as I've had on it!!!

Hey Wingnut, I have a few questions and was going to send you a private message but thought that your answers might benefit everyone.

I started with the green tea today (I have a gallon jug brewing as I type) but I would like to know, how much you normally drink before meals?

Should I give up my coffee? I am a huge coffee drinker!

And, do you think I could get the same results if I were to add fresh lemon to it - to cut down on the bitterness?

Any other advice you can give would be a great help.

Thanks so much for sharing this information, there may be hope for us all, that want to drop the extra weight we have gained since getting into this business.

Wingnut: you rock!! If they ever get around to the Expediters Hall of Fame, I intend to nominate you for sharing your secret to success. :D
I'd like to lose a few lbs myself, because us short people can't carry extra weight as well as taller folks can, (don't believe Pelicn is overweight - she's just imagining that, she looks terrific!) :) but I'm a bit concerned about the blood pressure thing: does it generally lower bp?
I'm like India: going to get some green tea, right NOW!!:D

Arlene, thanks for posting your questions so we can all see the answers. The green tea is pretty bitter but I think we will get used to it. I'm not drinking as much coffee as I was and I drink a lot of coffee. My husband is actually requesting the green tea now before meals! Amazing!

When I first started, I drank a tea cup of green tea before every meal and in between. After I started to like the taste of the tea, I then upped it to a 10 - 12 ounce glass before every meal and in between.
I honestly don't know if it'll slow or hurt the process if you 'sweeten' it with lemon or not. Since lemon is all natural, I wouldn't think it would hurt but don't know it for a fact.
I don't have an answer for you regarding the coffee because I've never been a coffee drinker. My 3 main drinks are: green tea, cranberry juice, and water. I do drink pepsi or coke when I go out to eat but that's about it.
