Fascinating. I've heard and read about Otzi before, but just spent the better part of the last couple hours going through all the info at the links you've provided. His tools and clothing are amazing.

Fascinating. I've heard and read about Otzi before, but just spent the better part of the last couple hours going through all the info at the links you've provided. His tools and clothing are amazing.

This man was part of a European society 3000 years before Christ was even born. Highly intelligent beings. Otzi had among his possessions a fire-starting kit. Tools. Weapons. Clothing. Medicinal herbs. He carried embers in a pouch. Tremendous forethought and planning.

Why was Otzi killed? Who knows? Apparently he had been on the run for several days, sustaining deep wounds to his body indicative of hand-to-hand struggle. The story seems to be Otzi climbed higher and higher into the Alps hoping to escape those pursuing him. At some point, Otzi took an arrow through his back.

Discovering Otzi's body has yielded an enormous treasure trove for scientists and archaeologists alike.

Oviously, man was just as smart 5000 years ago as today. As Otzi's murder implies, human nature remains the same as ever. Our technology advances to allow more cunning ways of killing one another. Sad.
