Police report: megachurch pastor choked daughter - Yahoo! News If this is true and I hope not, the end of this preachers church days could be somewhat short or a large drop in attendance. In any event , if his actions are true, this is not a good witness to his flock as a preacher IMHO. Im not taking up for him or condeming him, only time will tell. Poop happens in all famlies and its worse when one is a high profile preacher, mercy.

Did you actually read the entire article at the link? I found no hint in the article of Yahoo or the world trying to slightly damage, much less destroy Christianity or those who live their lives by the Bible.

You are right about why the story is a story, but wrong about it being about Christianity. The man in question is a high profile figure and that is why the story is a story. If he was a city mayor, coach at a large college or high-ranking police officer, the story would be the same; "Daughter makes allegations against high-profile father."

Note also that there are millions of liberal Christians on earth. They attend church every Sunday, pray to Jesus, have their children baptized and educate them in the Word. The fact that they see government more as the solution than as the problem makes them no less Christian than those Christians who see government more as the problem than as the solution.

That's why there are so many Christian denominations (Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Amish and many more). Christians all believe in Jesus Christ (that's what makes them Christian), but they have different points of view about what that means in living their day-to-day lives. Even within the same denomination you can find strong disagreement among Christians regarding politics, family, religion and other life-central topics.

Better, I think, to focus on the God who unites than the issues that divide. That requires one to be more accepting, tolerant and forgiving of others, but is not that what Jesus does?

Jesus did not suffer and die for conservatives only. He suffered and died for liberals too.
