I love this, I just figured out that a lot of people must not understand what a communist or socalist country is all about.
Sorry for being long winded, I am bored tonight.

1) As you said, gun ownership in Australia, Sweden, England, China and other civilized countries, private ownership of firearms is prohibited, leaving China out of the true civilized country group. But, and a BIG BUT.. China has a strong criminal justice system and executes many people for crimes that we consider petty, like fraud. I just love their drug rehabilitation programs, stand there against that wall so we can shoot you – works for me. England, don’t fool yourself, they has an almost higher assault rate per capita than we do and even though they don’t have guns available as we do, they still have armed robberies, murder and a great number of other gun related crimes. AND the English still find other ways to kill each other, stabbing and bludgeoning are common. The big thing in England has been teens going around and recording (video phone) other teens beating the c**p out of people to get their reaction, like blood running down an old ladies face, Ah yes Sweden, where crime is met with sentences in a communal prison, where families can live together and even drugs are provided. Australia, great country, nothing wrong there, pass me another Fosters mate.
As for states rights, there was a war in the 1860’s that determined what rights states have. My opinion has always been the wrong side won when it comes down to this issue. Fortunately I can not bring myself to believe in the libertarian philosophy because I yet to hear with it the responsibility for the freedoms they speak of. Too many idiots side with them and hence I lump them all in with the other political groups where the most outspoken people seem to be the idiots.
You know the pork you talk about gives you the power you use, the roads we drive on and every enjoyable benefit of a free society. It is the way our government works and for that matter, most other countries governments work the same way. To complain about it, well you have the right, but really learn what to complain about, pork – it is a talking point for the far left. OK I admit the system has its problems but really who is to blame? I say we all are. We have allowed ourselves to become complacent, to become lazy and not to care to understand issues that affect all of us. This is not the fault of the people we elect, it is our fault. Many disagree with me when I say do something about it, get involved – you have an issue, make a point about it and try to change it. Use you vote. I can preach a lot about this issue, but I will say this – if someone like Cindy Sheehan can be vocal about an issue, why can’t you? The biggest thing I hear from every trucking site is fuel or HOS - not important. You know what is a really an important point that you all should be worried about and getting involved to protect all of us; Eminent domain and how this will affect you and your rights. It starts with your house, next is your truck.
2) Tallcal101, I am wondering what planet are you from? Socialism dead in China, Come on. China is the last refuge for socialism, even though it does not look like it. They are experimenting with capitalism thanks to the return of Hong Kong and if they need to, they can stop the experiment like right now. The have a rather large army and even though you may think that this would not happen, there is nothing to stop them from deciding to send the army in to take all the property that is theirs to begin with and just kill anyone who opposes them, including world press members. Personal freedoms are an issue for many who live there and even though there maybe some more freedom on the surface, don’t think for a minute that China will allow this to change their culture to the point to cause political changes to occur. Many flee to have any freedoms, which in China it is given by the state and can and often is taken away by the state. As much as many want to paint a rosy picture of China, facts are facts and the leadership will not change overnight, too much Mao. I worked with many Chinese in the past, some freshly arrived and everyone has said they never wanted to live in that situation again and that is why they struggled getting here. I heard a lot of horror stories that would never ever happen here, so I count myself as lucky to be born here. A friend was in Russia for many years as a representative of a major American company and made many trips to China before retiring a few weeks ago. He talked about corruption and greed in Russia, which he said is the same in China. Something that we don’t come close to here. In order for him to do his job, he had to bribe people, first the party representative, then the general manager at the plant and finally the manager of the area he had to work in. He said when he was in China last year; he was faced with the same issue, but lacked the means to properly bribe the right people, but still got the job done. See in china it is about the culture and resepct, where in Russia it was about greed. Unless you worked the culture to show respect, you ain’t going to get a thing done. I think I will pass on China’s way of doing business.
