I have a large tablet, a Galaxy tab S7+. I imagine in a year or so, I'll upgrade to a newer model of essentially the same thing. It's large and comparatively heavy. I'll use it for navigation and audio while running.
The Sprinter really offers few options for mounting devices. I want to keep it as much below window level as practical. My dash is pictured. I want it to cover the useless sound system. The volume knob is really the only thing I'll need there.
I've narrowed it down to 3 options:
• magnets that I'd stick between the display and the storage compartment on top, but keeping the tablet above the heat/AC knobs;
• a mount that sticks on top of that cabinet but has an arm that allows it to be lowered;
• or a cooler with cup holders in the lid, into which I'd insert a cup holder tablet mount.
Pros and cons:
The surface of the area above the display has a slight convex curve to it. I'd have to mount both magnets to the left of center and even there, it's slightly convex. That would be the most useful, however.
The sticky mount on top is questionable regarding stickiness and its ability to hold a heavy tablet that would be suspended from it, and it would be more visible from outside. I'd have to take the tablet off every time I want to access that storage compartment. It would offer good positioning of the tablet, though.
The cooler would be positioned diagonally between the passenger seat and the space between the seats, if I can find one of an appropriate size. It would give me the benefits of having a cooler, but I'd have to take the tablet off to open it, and then there's the ice, draining it, refilling it, taking up space, etc., and in not sure the drink holders on the lid are the right size and depth, or those mounts are durable enough to survive mile after mile of bouncing while supporting a heavy tablet.
Ideas? Has anybody done any of these or others?
