I transported years ago a freezer full of vials from patients with AIDS, each vial represented a human being. It was a very difficult load emotionally. All the patients had died. The next shipment was a body that was a research project for the Einstein Institute in NYC. My labor was 3 guys from United Van Lines labor pool, and when they found out what was in the Cryogenic freezer they refused to touch the cylinder looking freezer.

Well I guess parts or fluids of humans are so far the most common - odd load... The single breast seems the most interesting as a load to me, I mean why?... perhaps more info can be shared.
Hopefully more will share their experiances (sp)

When I was with FedEx CC, I was deadheaded to New Jersey from Long Island to make a pick up from ITT Avionics. When I got there, I was loaded with 3 devices covered in black plastic.

I was informed that I would be escorted with my load by two individuals; one in front and one behind. At no time, they said, could I be out of their site. The load was going to Lockheed Martin Missile Systems in King of Prussia, PA. We would not be stopping for any reason during the trip. Luckily, it was only 108 miles.

When I arrived at Lockheed, I was unloaded with many many people watching. It was unsettling. As I drove from the loading dock, a big commotion was taking place near a chain link fence. Being nosy, I took the truck over there and got out. A few minutes later, President Bush's convoy went by on the road below.

As I was standing there, one of the gentlemen from Lockheed told me that I should feel very proud of the delivery I had just made. He said he couldn't tell me what it was, but, he said, let's pray it never has to be used!!!!

I won't ever forget that load.

Hmmmm this thread a bit on the morbid side. I have never hauled body parts but have hauled a lot of HIV and Hepatitis viruses out of Chiron in Emeryville, Ca. To the airlines for shipment to research labs in England and Germany.
Now for my Pres Bush story. Last summer i took a load of audio video equipment from Los Angeles to Bend,Or to meet up with Pres Bush. He was a flying in to give a speech and push for his forest regrowth and rejuvination bill. Anyway when I got there I found that a large forest fire was approaching the national park site about 20 miles west of Bend where I was ultimately delivering. So with heavy smoke they had to consider an alternate site. With secret service and media folks scramblin around it was very interesting. I was staged in a mall area waiting for instructions. As my delivery time came and passed dispatch would ask what was goin on and when I might unload. My media contact coordinator was in direct contact with the white house and would tell me "We are just waiting on word from the white house". I have to admit it gave me a rather self important heady feeling when dispatch asked me what was goin on I would type back "I am just standing by waiting on word from the white house". Anyway latter that day "The White House" lol. Said they were diverting the speech to a conference center at the county fairgrounds in Redmond,Or
about 20 miles to the north. That was one load where I was havin a ball and collecting the detention time to boot. Wouldn't have minded stayin another day.
Now does anyone want to hear about my run to Martha's Vineyard and first hand personal tales on the Kennedy clan lol

most intersting load that i have done should be in how i got it
i was at my mom and dad's and a friend called roberts express
and said that truck you have lowville ny would you send it over to us to load and send it on way, they told him we don't have any trucks
in lowville and will take about 2 hours before they will have someone
there, he told them would you like phone number of where he's at,
then when i got to pickup the person who load me was a old girl friend
who i dated in high school and at the other end the person who unload me was also old girl friend,

Back when Bill Clinton was in office we took a load of Presdential Christmas Cards from a printing place near Louisville Ky to the White House. The original shipment had a mispelled word,guess that person who was in charge lost his/her job real fast.
We went through 3 security checks and had a female secret service agent accompany us to the docks at the White House.When we backed into the dock a receiving person became very excited and called to say "the cards are here". They opened one carton to check for the proper wording etc and lo and behold the next thing was that the Clintons came out to inspect the cards.Bill was a lot taller then he appeared on TV,he said"how are you",Hillary said nothing. The cards were ok,Bill thanked us and we left, one other thing Roberts paid us for a truck wash before we went in.

Well, because my memory gets shorter as I get older, I could only remember about a week ago when we had an art load from Raleigh, NC to St. Petersburg, FL. The painting was an original Monet in it's original frame. That was cool enough for me, but what made the trip memorable was the courier. Turns out she is an artist as are her parents, and she spent every summer of her childhood on the road, in a van,( just like lots of us ) doing the art show circut with her parents. During my turn at driving, I could hear my wife and the courier talking and laughing back in the sleeper. I really didn't want the load to end.

I have a vaguely related true story about "interesting loads." I was talking with my neighbor yesterday; he is employed full-time in the construction industry, but in the winter he freelances in creating custom woodwork projects. While we were chatting about general things, I mentioned that I was going to be entering then expediting business when my current family situation allows me the freedom to do so. Also, I am waiting a while for the business to get into full gear before I take that first step. To my point about interesting loads; he told me he had taken delivery last week of an order of wood for one of his projects. Seems the project he is working on is a table with the top inlaid with wood from several different species of wood, in some sort of geometric pattern. He had ordered several slabs of wood and had it expedited because he had a client willing to purchase the table if completed within a specified timetable. It was one of the "Big 5" expediting companies that contracted the delivery. He told me it was a chunk of change to have it expedited, but the profit he will earn from his labors will be well worth the expediting expense. So...more kudos to the expediting industry keeping the supply of goods and materials flowing, enabling a win-win-win situation for everyone involved.

When I worked for a local courier we use to haul body parts/fluids all the time. Gross, but it paid the bills. The company I am with now does a lot of deliveries for Sony Pictures. Most of them are drop and run, but some you have to stay with while they show the film and take it with you when it is done. This is mainly movies that have not been released yet. One evening I was sent to the theater with "are we there yet" ice cubes movie. While the pojectionist was putting the movie in to the projector I heard a lot of noise comming down the hall. Low and behold it was Ice Cube himself, he had to come through the loading dock to avoid the mob outside. He hung out with me and the projectionist until he went to introduce the movie. Nice guy, and very thankful I was there with the movie.

Mine was a human heart going from PIT to a small town about 85 miles north of Pittsburgh and I only had 2-hours to get the heart to the O. R. After the plane landed and I received the package I only had 112 minutes left. If I was late, making delivery of the heart, the person may have died. Talk about pressure! I called the State Police and ask for an escort, I did get my wish!!!

Can't brag about intresting loads my dream load is a truck load 22ft by 108 stacked floor to cieling of $100.00 bills unmarked. I could than help everyone on the site pay off there trucks and

Although the piece of freight was not so interesting, this load was, or was at least my most fun load to date. It was a crankshaft for a locomotive engine that powered a large tugboat, the Elanor Bouchard that works to move container ships in the harbor around Staten Island, the Kill-Van-Kull the ships travel to get to the ports of NJ. No weenie-vessel, this thing is powered by 2 16 cylinder Electro-Motive diesels. The crankshaft was about 20' long.

That morning I was allowed to play around in the cab of a large crane, tour around the Bouchard itself, and then assist in getting the crated crankshaft into the engine room. Then I got to take a break and talk with the fellows from EMD who were rebuilding the engine, and see how they did it. No easy task in that room, which is crammed full of plumbing, wires, equipment of all shapes and sizes, and is very uncomfortable. I got to take home a trophy- a used piston and sleeve from the engine being rebuilt that weighs about 150 lbs. I'll never forget that morning :) :)

The first load I transported with my hotshot rig (a week ago) was not that interesting but the place I delivered to was. I delivered a meat packing machine to a bison (buffalo) processing plant in N. Dakota. I discovered that they don't waste any part of the buffalo. Piled outside and behind the plant was a mountainous stack of Buffalo heads. There must have been several hundred of them piled up with their hides still intact and their eyes still in the sockets. The temp outside was 5 degrees so the heads were frozen. The plant forman told me that they sell the heads for around $30-50 each to a guy in New Mexico who skins them and bleaches the skulls. After they are bleached they are painted with a Native American design and sold for around $300-700, depending on the size of the horns.

was in mn and at one of express centers and got a call from a dispather do you want to move close to rockford il said ya
we have a load for you to take it will pay you 400.00 and all you have todo is put it in a mail box someperson paid to have a
letter drop in a mail box close to chicgo, il for some contest
had to be mailed and have a post mark on it guest he figure if it was closer to city he would have a better chance of winning
never found out if he won or not
and this would be better for me there are someplace that a single
driver should be, but that rule goes out the window when the price is right
