More Shipments - More Revenue !

I know that all of us (owners and drivers) in this industry would like to be driving more and sitting less. So I’ve been floating an idea around the last couple of days and would like to ask your assistance.

There are actually two aspects to this concept and I am seeking all the help from you guys I can get. If the information I get from you, makes either of the aspects a reality, there would be quite a bit of additional freight for anyone involved.

The information I am seeking from owner/operators and small fleet owners is very simple to answer and does not involve giving away any secrets.

I would like to know from anyone in this category….

1. if you operate under your own authority. I have a source of expedited freight shipments that could benefit you and your company.

2. if operating under another’s authority… how much are you paying for primary liability and cargo insurance? - how much are you paying for non trucking liabilty? (bob tail Insurance) Are your payments direct to your insurance company or broker or taken from your settlements?
Again, with this knowledge, there could be a substantial source of additional revenue to you and or your trucks.

3. how many trucks and what size truck do you operate under these categories.

I need this information from at least 50 separate owners in each category in order to do proper business analysis and model projections.

Please take a few minutes to e-mail me your information. It will be held in strict confidence. You needn’t identify the name of your company.
I promise to respond to each participant when the analysis is complete and advise if my theory is valid. I will assure you that if the business model develops as I suspect, it will mean many thousands to any and all involved.

This is a fact finding venture to collect information on the possible formation of a totally new concept for the expedited industry … it simply does not exist at the present time.
It has nothing to do with selling you anything, nor is it insurance related in any way.

Please... DO NOT ANSWER in this forum…
email your information to [email protected]

If we are going to do this type of data collection on here I think every memeber should have the ability to see the results of such collection. After all it is the members supplying the data that you will be able to udse in guiding your decisions For that reason I would ask that people answer directly to this question as opposed to submitting directly to Tom. I am sure this is going to hit the wrong chord and it is not meant to. It just seems that this is info many may be interested in. Using our recently developed theories of helping each other with who is a good service shop and helping each other on the road, we might as well help each other here as well.raceman

I'll have to disagree with you on this one Raceman. Those of us whom are willing to share this information with Tom should be the ones who benefit from the results instead of letting others get a free ride. That is a concept you of all people should be able to grasp.

Hey Raceman~
As you know from many conversations in the past, we have many points regarding this industry that we agree on. This point however is not one of them.
Since we last spoke, I have abandoned the idea that I was most interested in speaking to you about. It simply does not fit into my present method of doing business. Another idea however has gained momentum. One that literally does not exist in this industry. The benefits to all expediters would be immediate and profitable and would not affect or cause anyone to change their present carrier affiliations.

Additionally "we" are not collecting this information, I am. I have no intention of making my individual findings public. I would not post anything regarding another company based on information received by only one or two drivers. Secondly the information I am seeking is for a specific purpose, not to advise everyone of the cost of doing business for various companies.

I am certain that the E.O. staff would immediately eliminate such responses made public for legal reasons.

In one of your post you stated that your drivers do not like to sit... not for one day. I have seen similar post from many people.
At this time I only have a small number of responses. It seems to me that anyone complaining about sitting would want to do anything that may give them options that would provide more freight and less sitting time.
Yet my e-mail is not being bombarded with responses.

If I am not succesful in getting the necessary reponses to complete the analysis of this concept from the owners and drivers frequenting this site, then I will continue my research using other methods. It will take a lot more time, but eventually will be done.

To anyone reading this post, I once again appeal to you to take a few minutes to email the information sought on my original post.

There will be NO PUBLIC release of this information, I need not know your name or your companies name. This information will be used to factor cost associated with a totally new business concept for the expedited industry, one that would bring additional revenue to any involved.

Thanks for your consideration.

Raceman~ sorry I can't let you in on the concept...you are just the individual who could take this and fly with it. I'll contact you should the results show that the idea will succeed.

Okay that is fine. I want no free ride. I have no problem with that and as long as that is the approach I will take it as such. Sorry I asked. I was just interested. I have no plans to do anything near what Tom is doing and I explained to him I simply would like the to understand more about the insurance issue. Good luck with the data, I appreciate your position and will get as far from here as I can so as not to hurt your efforts.

hey raceman~
I didn't mean to steps on your toes, or cause hard feeling in anyway.
This info simply could not be made public, for many reasons including those of a legal nature.
Your post are helpful to all in the industry. I for one appreciate being able to hear your opinion on any topic.

thanks to all who have replied so far...
I still need to hear from quite a few more of you.
Please take a moment and reply to the original post on this subject.
This concept, if proven feasable, could put more revenue in your pocket and greatly increase your profit margins.

thanks for your consideration

I dont understand the first question. It doesnt seem to be a question at all. I do operate under my own authority and would like to know about expedited frieght sources. I would be willing to give input but what is the question?

If you operate under you own authority you have a USDOT # and and ICC?MC number
If you are leased on with another carrier it is still possible that you do have your own authority...
For those who don't there are still questions that will assist in my quest...
hope this answers your questions
