More E-trak /insulation questions

The van I purchased has side doors. If I run a 10 foot piece of e-trak down the "passenger side" of the cargo area that means I will have to fasten the e-tak to the doors and they will not be able to be opened. While I really don't care if they open or not, my concern is that some obscure law says that the side doors must open, and I don't want to be put out of service or fined by Big Brother. Question: Is it OK to fasten e-trak to the side doors and prevent them from opening?

Next question: What might be the best insulation to insulate a cargo van with? Right now I am planning to attach 1X3 furring strips to the interior with countersunk #8 sheet metal screws and Liquid Nails.
I plan on using Liquid Nails to glue the extruded polystyrene to the metal walls of the cargo area. I want to cover the whole thing with some type of cheap, flexible wood panelling, and then cover that with carpet. The idea is to stay warm/cool in each season. The cargo area has a lot of dips, push outs and cut outs in the walls. Very much unlike a house, so I will need to shim, use long scres etc. I plan on insulating the roof also and covering it the same way as described in the walls. I researched the forum and gotten many useful tips. Forum members: please advise!!!!!! Thanks in advance.

I've seen E-Track on the side doors but I would not do it due to the potential put your door out of whack. If you do it, consider cutting the E-track and fitting it to the doors separately.

check J.C Whitney at www.jcw.com for a Mylar faced foam sound/heat insulation with vinyl lining. Can be applied with 3M spray adhesive or contact cement. I've seen a couple of vans that had a commercially applied spray-on foam insulation which was highly regarded. Might be comparably priced as the method you discussed.
