They once had a jet plane in Flight Test that had a complicated 8-step process to eject the pilot from the plane in case of an emergency. To make sure the pilot could see it in the even of needing to eject, the 8 Steps were placed just above the pilot's head on the inside of the canopy.

Step 1 - Eject the canopy

I love it!! The Soviets never used to put ejection seats on thier test aircraft, lost a lot of test pilots that way!! We used to keep "score" on a chalk board in the one office I used to work in.

The above story, incidentally, was relayed to me by one of the test pilots who's job it was to catch little things like that. That man went on to be one of just 24 men who have flown to the Moon. But he is not well known, even though his Moon flight was the most famous one of all, as he had possibly the ultimate in "it's a dirty job but somebody's gotta do it" as the Command Module Pilot who orbited the Moon as others walked on it for the first time in history.

actually the M68 main gun(a 105mm) in a A3w/tts is a better example of the exception to that rule. The Leopard 2 and Abrams both are hard pressed to hit a target at 9000 meters just under 50% of the time, while an M60A3 can plink at that distance all day and not miss.

The l55 is a great cannon but the fire control is a bit lacking that is where they cut cost
