lifted this from the chicago tribune not much to go on but fore warned...............

Meanwhile, the weather service has issued a "special weather statement," warning of a significant winter storm that may affect portions of the Midwest Wednesday through Christmas Day.
Although it's too early to say exactly how bad the storm will be, the weather service expects it to move in south of Interstate 80 Wednesday morning, bringing precipitation in various forms that will spread north as the day goes on.
"It's just going to be just a different mix of sleet, snow and freezing rain," said Nathan Marsili, a meteorologist with the weather service's Chicago area office. "We're mainly just concerned about the sleet and freezing rain making roads hazardous."

Yeah I know, :( , I have bee watching the weather here. I would not mind a really good snow storm. Oh well, we have been way over normal for snow fall around here the last two years, can't have it good every year.

The last I heard was it could go either way sleet , ice snow or Rain should it rain they stated could be up to 2 inches. If it snows that is a snow storm I would guess around 16 inches.Been snowing all day from Chicago North as you get into Wi. more snow and slick in spots.Lots of fender benders right now on the secondary roads. Be Safe, And Wishing you all a Happy Holiday Season.Jack Maybe next year will meet for a cup of coffee so close but so far away . lol

As of 4 pm central time here in SE. Wisconsin.we are having lite snow and sleet. In Chicago Midway airport is shut down as Southwest has canceled all flights Due to severe Icing. Dont think everyone will be home for Christmas.Leaving Chicago anyway. The storm warning has been Extended thru 3pm tommorow now.How it falls will depend on how far the jet stream sets up.So anyone still on the roads in Wisconsin or northern illinois You need to watch out for ice as it is 30 degrees .Be Safe

WOW!! Thunder snow!! I have only seen that twice in my entire life!! Once on Oct. 1st, 1973, near Prudenville, MI, first day of Michigan bow season. The last time was in Jan, 1982, I was "stuck" at work at Ft. Meade, MD for 4 days, I could NOT leave work!! Man, was I TIRED when I left there!! NO SLEEP FOR 4 DAYS!! It was a VERY hard 65 mile drive home that day!!

That Thunder snow showers dont happen very often. Althought this is the 3rd time in 3 years that I have heard it. When it happens that snow comes down extremely heavy.Up until the first time I cant remember it and I am 58 years young.Once again there are numerous acidents on Interstate 94 heading into Illinois from Kenosha county.Lots of folks are ditiching them 4 wheelers tonight. So becareful out here,
