Michigan Wetland Challenge.

The truck is sick with a leaking head gasket so I had no other choice but to go hunting. We got in 3 of the 7 Refuges. And that makes us eligible for the Golden Draw that gives ya choice pick next year. Truck should be finnished late tonight and Im going to have to make up some lost ground out here so not sure how many more Refuges we will get in. Point Mouillee and Muskegon will be our next choice. I hear Fennville Farms is also worth the trip on the right day.

Entered Shaiwassee with 25 shells and left with 3 shells. I didnt limit out but the flooded Timber is high on my list of the best places I have hunted. Totally amazed how many birds where in there. Amasing to see the birds working thru the trees as well as they do..I have hunted flooded wood lots before but nothing like this place..To Cool.

Knocked Muskegon Waste Water off the list over in the Allegan State game area. Thousands and thousands of geese coming off the Muskegon refuge. Very hard place to hunt. You are restricted to the crop circle that ya get in the draw. This place has absolutely no cover once the crop comes off. Ground blinds are a must and ya need to be able to change the camo to what circle you are hunting. Anything out of place and the birds are flaring fast. Great time if ya go but ya need to be flexible on your camo for the layout blinds.
Tried to get the Fennville Farms out of the way but we did not read the dates right and they are still closed for a few more days. Going to have to go back there now.
We got 4 of the 7 refuges in allready.
We also got into the Ottawa marsh in the Allegan state game area..Well worth the boat ride thru there. Below are 2 photos of the Ottawa marsh.
