Michigan Business Tax

Has anyone received a letter from Michigan wanting to know how much money was generated in Michigan the last four years by their business?

Apparently they are going to charge a 1.9% tax. I told them we already pay a business tax to our home state and I have no idea how much our trucks made in Michigan since we didn't keep records indicating that. The person I spoke to said I had better find out. Well that isn't going to happen since I have no way of doing that.

I heard that antone with an MPSC sticker who lives out of state will get a letter and a form to pay this tax.

The bad thing is the state is going to trip over dollars to chase pennys and discourage growth even more in this state.

Oh for the first time in my long business career, I own more to the state of Michigan in taxes than I had to pay in federal taxes for 2006.
