Mexican Diesel

With these high diesel prices it is unbelievable that diesel is selling for approximately 5.3 pesos per liter in Nuevo Laredo which equates to approximately 2.10 per gallon. This is low sulpher diesel.

Many people in Laredo were buying diesel transfer tanks for their pickups and were bringing it back across the bridge. There was a story on the news the other night that Customs was cracking down on this at the bridge.

If they ever let the Mexican trucks into the interior of the US, this is another advantage they will have besides the cheap labor.

You know Canadian OTR's out west have been using extra tanks for years when coming into the U.S. of A. to buy our CHEAP diesel... And when Swift and Warner start crossing that Mexican border you can bet your butt they'll be fueling over there. Especially if you don't have to report to IFTA.

I remember in the late 1970's and early 1980's seeing Canadian trucks with those oval shaped, home heating oil tanks mounted on the frame behind the sleeper.

Yeah I can see them paying an average for a round trip of around $3.10 per gallon and saying that they could not compete.
