Does anyone have any info, experience, rumors, etc on this Mercedes Bentz MBE-4000 engine that's available in a Freightliner F-112. Alumibunk (I know,I know) is marketing this as an expeditor, with a 10 spd autoshift. Seems like a good combo, but I have no knowlege of this engine. 435 hp and a very strong warranty are the good parts, does anyone have the bad news?

Nothing bad yet. I heard (or didn't hear) an MBE4000 in a new Sterling tractor the other day. That thing is SOOOO quiet, I could hear the movement in the air compressor over the sound of the engine at idle. If you think the Detroit S60 is quiet, that MBE has to be 10 times quieter. I swear Mercedes diesels sound more like gas engines than diesels! MBE and Detroit are now under one roof, Diamler Chrysler Powersystems, and Detroit shops will be servicing the MBE engines too.
