Can anyone tell me how to find information on a Mercedes Benz
OM 926 LA 330 horse power. We can find general stuff but not durability, or any maintenance pros and cons.

The OM 926 LA is more commonly referred to as an MBE 900. There are 2 variants of this engine, a 4 cylinder and a 6 (the one you want info on). It has been available in Freightliner Business Class trucks for a number of years.

The engine, while not a power monster, has been reasonably reliable over its life span. It is a medium duty engine with an average lifespan of 500,000 miles. Some go more, some go less depending on how you treat them. Some expediters have had them wear out early through a combination of high loads, long idle times and poor maintenance, this will hurt any engine but the smaller it is and the closer you run it to it's limits the faster this shows up. There have been fuel system and injector problems on some. A lot of these problems can be traced back to using aftermarket fuel filters instead of the Genuine Mercedes filter. The housings that hold the filters require an exact set of dimensions and an aftermarket filter that is "close" would let unfiltered fuel in and cause issues.

So, if you want info, search out MBE900, or "little Benz", should get you what you need!

Thanks for the information. Now the question is this is a 900
but a 330 horse --lots of power, whats the difference between 330 and the 260hp . Is it just a computer chip?

Different setting in the ECM and possibly some subtle changes to the turbo and injectors, nothing that would seriously affect reliability or change the way you perform any maintenance
