just incase any of you wondered why EOBR's are needed, this newly gadget is a prime example.
no, EOBR are not about safety, they are about money...big money, and big electronics providers players.

a mandatory sell of such devices will provide for huge new market, and this one is just the beginning.

TND™ 760

at an estimated 800$ a pop,
and and estimated 114$ a month data plan (*),
and a market of a few (5?) million trucks...

well you do the math.

*make the call, just like i did.

OH shock of shocks!! Surely you don't believe that a government agency would be taking kick backs to force the use of expensive equipment under the guise that it is good for safety now would you? LOL!!! Follow the money trail far enough and I would be money that you will find some at DOT or FMSCA who may own stock in this stuff and MAYBE even some elected officials.

Oh, they're all over this like white on rice.
Go read this: Qualcomm OnQ Blog - EOBR Mandate? Think Bigger.

The Blog was written by Dave Kraft, Qualcomm's Director of Business Development, Qualcomm Enterprise Services, and Qualcomm's Senior Manager of Government Affairs, who also BTW it just so happens golly gee serves as Chairman of the American Trucking Association's EOBR Task Force. It's a very short Blog, but don't read it on a full stomach.

Yep I got the email the other day announcing the rand product and thought to myself I hope they did better testing it and having a better support staff than with the GPS units.

Everyone is cashing in. I seen on one of the chinese electronic sites an EOBR/GPS unit that can be branded and sent for under $200. What a mark up - $800 in sales with only $200 cost.

thats what free market is . that is how you get rich . it is good business doing that . keep supporting the big companies . because they are only here for their profit not yours . if you want to make a profit you just need to work hard . legally and keep letting them do it illegally .

Our OLD units worked better than the junk we have now. They knew where we were, sort of, back then. At least more than they know where we are now.
