MBE Fan problem

Here is an update on the on-going saga of my engine fan. I took my truck to the Western Branch Diesel in Caton OH. They fixed a "Factory Modification" (recall) issue. There was a problem with freeze plugs popping out for no reason. It could happen while you were running. I had them look at the fan. They agreed that it should not be comming on everytime you turn the AC on. They changed the high pressure switch even though it was reading ok. The fan still runs all the time. The ECM settings are correct. They did find 5 small coolent leaks and fixed them. They also changed an ECM setting so my jake will work when the cruise is on. I guess it's back to square one on the fan issue. By the way, they charged my NOTHING for ANY of the work. The recall thing was coverd but there was no labor charges or anything for the other repairs etc. Layoutshooter

Do you have an electric fan or does it operate by air?

Electric. I need to find a REALLY good Freightliner shop that is EXPERT on AC problems. The guy in Caton told me up front that his AC techs were away on training and that thier shop does not specialize in AC. This is driving me nuts. I have a few days scheduled off in June. I hope I can find a GOOD shop in the Toledo/SE Michigan area that I can get it in during that time. I am due for a DOT and my reefer maitenece then too. I would like to get it all done at that time. Whew.... now that I stopped laughing long enough to type. Wait. heheheheh.. ok ok... somebody wants a REALLY good FTL shop... heheheehehehehhe...uhmmm sorry. Good luck, but if you do find one, please let me know somehow. Especially ANY shop that's good with A/C work.

What type and year is this MBE? Asking because I have a 08 4000 and have many problems already, but not with the fan; yet. Every problem I have had I needed to go to a Detriot Engine shop for the repairs, by instructions from the factory (W.S.) and even they often had trouble finding or fixing the problem.

Hey guys, how's it goin? We had breakfast together outside Ft. LenardWood (Fort Lost in the Woods Misery) a while back. It is a '06 MBE4000 450hp. Took it to a Detroit Diesel on this, nothing going there. Will try again as soon as we get the chance. Layoutshooter
