MAX WEIGHT INCREASE for trucks equipted with APU .

its apply for any commercial vehicle over 8,500 lbs.
never know when you need it handy ...

strangely , as i read the rule , its give the exemption for 400 pounds , for the GVW , or , for the per axle .
mosts st.trucks will be over the per axle way before they will be over gross . (assuming don't have match to play with load shifting... )
Did i got it right ?

another question i got ,
as a newbee st. truck driver :
is there a bridge formula for 2 axle ?
how'but once you add a tag axle ?

The Feds said last year that the exemption is only a Suggestion, not a rule and states can ignore it. They have yet (the last time I checked) came down with a ruling that the states must accept it.

The 400lbs is on the entire truck, example your gvw is 9990lbs, the exemption allows you to come in with a full load at 10,390lbs. (I think my math is correct)

With that said, there are some exceptions to the rule, like it must be a diesel vehicle and it must be an certified APU (open to interpretation). This opens the door for sprinters and one ton vans to carry the extra weight.

Very generous, 400 lb. Must be taking the APU mfr propaganda to figgure that. We removed an APU a while back. By the time we got the unit off and ALL the other things (control pannel, wiring, hoses, coolant, etc.) wala, we were bout 950lbs lighter.
