A massive government-funded vaccination campaign has been announced (info here).

This is likely to put reefer trucks in high demand and may give the California Air Resources Board a reason to further delay the effective date of the emmissions rules that would push some reefers off the road.

Officials are planning 100 million doses for October and a total of 600 million in subsequent months.

I don't know, I think that all verges on paranoia. Also, where are all those billions of dollars coming from that are needed for the campaign? I won't be spending any money for the shot.

Could be really good business for the trucking industry though.

It's a conspiracy !
they will use that laim excuse to form a national database ,
they will mandate that we all get vaccinated ,
& inject us all with a microchip...

It's not paranoia. It's real. The next big global killer won't be nuclear war, but the flu. Just a quick glance at the epidemics and pandemics of the last 200 years makes that obvious. Let's just hope this next major round of vaccines won't be like the ones that the government highly touted in 1976 where it resulted in widespread neurological damage and more than a few deaths.

Incidentally, one of the major risk factors for the flu is obesity.

I'm screwed.

I do not normally take a flu shot but I may this year. This on has the potential to make AIDS look more like the common cold. The FLU is a big time killer during a normal year, this strain is NOT the norm.

I've only had the flu twice in my life.

I haven't had it since I became a diabetic, with blood pressure, cholesterol and clotting problems.

I seem to remember going through another massive inoculation plan back in the 70's for some kind of flu. By chance any of you remember what that was.

Many times in my life I thought I had the flu, but after finally having actual flu a few years ago, all those other times were just bad colds or some bacterial infection. Not the flu. Before I got the flu, I didn't know much about it. After I recovered, finally, I learned a lot. I learned that I don't ever want it again.

Yeah, the Great Swine Flu Debacle, the Pandemic that never happened

and

Swine Flu Vaccine of 1976- More Harm than Good?

The vaccine literally killed more people than the flu did.

I wonder, if having ANY kind of flu in the past might help, even just a little, in a battle with this one? As to this flu. It continues to infect and the normal flu season is approaching. What is going to happen when conditions are better for the transmission of this bug?
