Magnets & Christmas

We have a bunch of those free magnets to hand out to customers that we give away all year.

After Thanksgiving though we buy hard candy or this year I could not find the hard candy so turned to candy canes to hand out.

I get cellophane and make a small bag add the wrapped hard candy and then tie with curling ribbon and hand out the little bag and a magnet to gate guards, shippers and receivers, and to the dock workers who load our truck. It really makes you feel good to see the smile they get when you give them this small item. It does not cost us much to do this and we really have fun with it.

We also save goodies that have been given away at the truck shows from FCC and I will use them with the candy. You should really see someone’s eyes light up with they get a coffee cup with a candy cane and a magnet.

Morningstar55ny really has a fun idea to give out candy canes to fellow drivers! Talk about spreading good will and how many cool people could you meet doing that?

Great idea! how do we get items like that? I've noticed some dock workers seem shocked just to get a 'Thank You' when they load me... wonder how many drivers give them a hard time instead of a little respect.

A little understanding goes a long way in smoothing the loading/unloading process. That dock worker may have spent the whole day getting yelled at.

Log onto the FedEx Custom Critical extranet and go to Doing Business on the left hand side of your screen, then click on Order/Print forms & Supplies then click on customer handouts and the magnets will be sent to the house.

When we are at the truck shows we will ask for a few extra pens, hats and other give aways and we just keep a store of them in the truck. You are right though the dock worker that goes the extra mile for you or the shipper or receiver that is having a tough day that little thank you goes a long way and makes us feel good to boot!
