LTL Freight

I saw the post about asking why drivers don't run ltl loads, I would like to know of those that do, is it worth it?

ltl loads are by nature not expedited freight, so they shouldn't interfere with the main load and you are able to deliver it whenever, am i wrong? If I can add one or two ltl loads along with an expedited load and increase my profit, WHY NOT????

In order to pick up LTL loads, you would have to have your own authority. While you are leased to a company, you cannot run a load on your own, while you are under a load for them. In order to run your own load, you must be empty, and cover up all signs of the company you are leased to, and place your own information on the truck. Also, many companies will charge you a fee to be allowed to trip lease on your own.

When I worked at Landstar I would look at the LTL boards. Some of the loads wasn't bad, around $1.00 a mile. But most of them were around 50 cpm. If you could fit a few of them going in the same direction it might pay off.
