LTL cannot replace Custom Critical

I was watching the Great Cake Off on Food TV. A contestant in New Jersey needed to get her undecorated cake to the competition in Atlanta. She packed it very carefully and shipped it to the location. When it arrived the box was crushed on one corner and had been opened. The box had Fragile stickers on all sides as well as Fed Ex Freight shipping labels.

Although Expedited freight would have been expensive, it goes to show fragile freight has it's place, and it's not on a freight truck.

Perhaps Fed Ex should include the Custom Critical Division at the end of it's commercials.

Coco That would be to much for FedEx corp to think about. afew years back my cousin Adam ask them why they didn't have a car on with Nascar? They told him that he needed to talk to the marketing dept at Corp. So Adam Called them and left them a message that went like this.

He said why are you supporting losers like Cart Racing when Nascar is where it's at. Then I thought it was Funnie when when they came to Nascar.

So maybe you should call them and leave a message.

Coco. Interesting post and so true. Important freight requires the professional touch that only experienced expediters can provide. Important freight should NOT be loaded multiple times on multiple trucks and planes with the expectation that bad things can't happen.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. (Einstein)

I have found out through people who ship with FedEx that the choice of which freight service to choose at FedEx is left up to the customer and that they don't promote one type of service over another. I would think this sort of thing not only doesn't help promote Custom Critical service, it does not get the customer the best possible service for their circumstance either. Back in my days with Roberts this company was strictly a fast/critical freight service company. FedEx CC now just seems to be a small link in the FedEx chain, and to this day the Custom Critical division has never really been a fully inclusive division of the FedEx family- just try parking or stopping to take a shower at a FedEx freight, ground, or express terminal and you'll know what I mean. As your work pays all of their salaries, why are you not entitled to even the smallest of benefits that other drivers at FedEx get, and yes some of them are contractors too. Mudflap

Keep watching foodtv. Eventually if not already the chocolate sculpture we took from Chicago to NY city should be on. Was supposed to be on the guinness records I think. We had fun with that one the chef insisted on a temp control of 60 to make sure the chocolate wouldn't get to hard and fragile or to hot and melt. Then we used lots of our foam and blankets to wrap and strap it in. The actual freight elevator at his Hotel wasn't working that day so we had to carefully fit it into the regular elevator. And he kep saying make sure you dont hit any bumps lol poor guy.
AT least he was smart enough to use us and not like the cake lady. That has to be the worst you are in a competition and ship a priceless thing using people who only care about quantity shipped. Wonder how much insurance she put on it. I was looking at a myspace page and some of these kids seem to enjoy destroying peoples things. This is one of their pages.
