This is from a press release recently issued by the Louisville Truck Show organizers. Seems they had a highly successful event.

MATS 2006: A Record Breaking Event

Louisville, KY - March 30, 2006: Exhibit Management Associates, Inc. is proud to announce that the 2006 edition of the Mid-America Trucking Show shattered every record for heavy duty trucking tradeshows. Exhibitor participation skyrocketed to an incredible 1,144 exhibitors, representing 46 states and 11 foreign countries. With the new wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center being completely sold out, the show raised the bar for total exhibit square footage to an astounding 1 million square feet indoors and 200,000 square feet outdoors. In addition, all previous show attendance records were broken with 80,291 badged attendees from all 50 states and 59 foreign countries. The record-breaking performance, combined with the monumental success expressed by the participating exhibitors, has truly made the show's 35th anniversary an event to remember.

Rene' and I each wished it could have been 80,293 in attendance, but can there be any doubt that EO members and the Expedite Experience drew a fair percentage of the total gate? Kudos to Lawrence and the EO staff, and the EO sponsors and advertisers that make expediting an experience.

3 days is not enough time to see everything they have at the show. We only spent two days there and that sure is not enough time. Next year we will be there all three days and it sure wont suprise me that we will still miss something.

The Texas show is a major show too, though smaller than MATS. Little if any meaningful expediting exhibiting goes on at shows other than MATS and the Expedite Expo. If you are looking for expediting info, those are the two shows to attend.

It was a great experience. It really should start Wed. afternoon through Saturday to give a reasonable chance of taking it all in. Dallas is about half the size in area but the same amount of time. I've been the last two years and plan to go again this year if I'm in the neighborhood. I also want to make the Expo this year if I'm within reach of it.

Well thanks for the info, others may not know this and wil help them to decide, but tell you the truth, I would not go for expediting info, I don't see the need to travel 1500 plus miles - I get all I want here. I would go for the industry info, meet more people in high places and as the kids say, for the pretty shiny trucks and gadgets.

Warning - shameless plug ahead -

I think that EO is about the best site out there for all the Expditing info and one of the few great inforation sharing place on Al Gore's invention.

- You have passed shameless plug, resume normal speed.

Leo,

We have some things happening at the Expo that will absolutely be worth the drive. Our goal this year, besides having a productive exhibit show is to blow the socks of all the Expediters who come and support the show. We have planned to put the “WOW FACTOR†into this event. In fact, I’m grinding my teeth right now wanting to share some more information - - but alas there are a few more details to work out.

I will say this for sure – the venue at this place is incredible – it will be 2 days of industry, info, community and good old fashion fun – read HOT TRUCKS, CHROME, BLUES BANDS, MORE TRUCKS AND MORE CHROME, oh yeah, and a ton of carriers, vendors, after-market dealers, prizes, BIG PRIZES – BIG, BIG, BIG PRIZES….and throw in a few TV Celebs…and it’s 100% EXPEDITED TRUCKING!

Somebody say “amenâ€!

If any one comes to the Expo this year’s and does not say “Wow - that was cool†I’ll be hogged tied and kicked in gitters! LOL!

Lawrence, I know what you are saying and the teeth gritting will be worth it in the end. Just put some good food in your mouth and make that gritting useful. :+

I agree with Greg's shameless plug for EO being the best expediting info site on the web. Broompilot, you better contact Al and see if can fix you up.
