Supreme box with translucent (fiberglass?) roof panels and a couple of them are loose. Is it a construction adhesive that holds these on?Or a specialty product. It's a gray caulk like looking substance. Thanks.

I am not sure what they use on those panels, but i can tell you that having sold hundreds f their boxes on chevy cutaways, they have a great customer service dept and engineering dept and they will talk to you..

Give them a call and give them the yr and the serial # of the box, id bet they can tell you what they used as a bonding agent..

That translucent (fiberglass) roof should only be 1 piece. I have a Bay Bridge box with a translucent roof that is one contuious piece of fiberglass. I also have had a 24 ft. straight truck with a translucent roof that was also 1 piece. I don't think they make them with multiple pieces to cut down on the chance of leakage. As for the gray material I am not really sure but I think it is some kind of caulking material. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Possible they may have cut and replaced a damaged piece instead of replacing the whole roof.

You're right it's one piece but it's come away from 2 of the roof supports that run side to side.

All roof panels are one piece, translucent or aluminum, that I have seen since 1989.

Just a bit of info: My freind and I have the same van, a Ford with a Spartan body, 12ft, but his has a translucent roof, mine, aluminum. We cut out the same size holes for our power vents last month, 14x14, and was surprised, when weighed, both different materials, the cutouts, weighed the same.Who would of guessed?

I would take it to a trailer repair shop and have them look at it.

Why waste youre money?? Go to either an rv store, or homo depot, and buy a few tubes of something that will bond to metal and fiberglass, and caulk it between the metal and fiberglass? much cheaper that way.No sense paying someone for something that you can do youreself in a few minutes!:D

I want to do it myself. Guido, when you gonna be at the yard? :p

In Kansas City, parked under a tree, in the shade, staying cool..Another advantage to a van over a straight truck..on the grass...nice and hot, over 106..I'd help you do it, if I was there, I have my caulk gun with me also. There's a place on pelham rd, just south of wick, that is a rv shop that sells what you need.

Reread that post. I said to have them look at it and find out what type of caulking you would need to repair it yourself not repair it.

My roof bows are not attached to my translucent roof. They are riveted into the side channels. The roof fits into the side channels and is sandwiched between two pieces of metal and caulked with a grey caulk.
The caulk is probably 5555 seam sealer.
