Looking to sign on with FedEx Custom Critial

I am really close to signing up with FedEx but a little worried about getting the miles I need to make it. I am going tractor trailor with the company. Any of you out there have any experiences for me with this company? I know times are hard right now but an idea might help me with my decision.

Well, in an attempt to provide at least a little help with your question, I'll suggest that with Fedex it isn't so much a question of are you going to get how many miles you need to make as it is a question of are you going to make the money you need to make. If the rate per mile doubles the required miles drops 50%. What you need to find out from E unit operators is what their bottom line is and what their rate all miles is. Compare those numbers to the operating cost of your unit to see if it works for you. I'm sure this isn't worded as well as I'd like but it's late and I'm about 80% down on brain batteries at the moment. Hopefully it's clear enough for you to understand and I'm sure others will add to it to try to help some more.

my advice when it comes to fecc dont do it been here awhile and things where great at first when frieght got tight they became the most heartless jerks in the world. they will dispatch around you. they will give you some story about how the system picks how a load is dispatched thats bull what is put into the system can be directed and ajusted. I see all these long timers posting peaches and cream so watch your back. you can always tell when a recruiter, dispatcher, contract cowordinator(spelled properly), or company driver is lying THERE LIPS ARE MOVING

some drivers with a 16' box make a darn good income with fecc,
you are supposed to make around 3.3125 times as mach with a 53' trailer.
:)

you might want to drive for an owner first...

J J If you feel this way,why are you still here?Back in the day when I had more than 1 truck,I felt just as you did about a different company, you know what I did,I moved it as fast as I could.Id like to know what company drivers you are talking about,You know as well as I do,there are no company drivers that work for FDCC.And as far as dispatch being heartless jerks,I've been here a lot longer than you have, and there are some dispatchers I dont like, but Ive not found 1 of them to be heartless.

Now as far as him having any trouble, with him living in California, his getting home would be the only problem, although he could get a relocation load if he wants to haul cheap freight to get home.

If you truly believe what you have wrote you needed to move on the day you decided you came to that conclusion.

If you even think this is happening pop into the office when near Green and ask to sit with a dispatcher and watch for an hour or two. Have a free lunch or breakfast at the office and see what really happens. See how the trucks are picked and how they are dispatched.

I do not think anyone has ever written being a solo in expediting is easy.

One thing nice at FCC is you can turn down twenty loads and you are not penalized. You can take your less than 75 anywhere you go and you can go out of service with a less than 75. You can move across town, down the street and to different areas and not lose your dwell time. There are warts here at FCC but being dispatched around is not one of them.

With it being slow it is easy to blame the company for all of our problems. Look around the truck stops and see how many trucks are moving.

I do not know how the T/T run and I figured Steve would be able to reply to the original question best as he has been doing this a lot of years.
