Looking to sign on Teams with Hubby...

So, Since several of you here have suggested that 'we' (hubby&I) should drive for someone else for a year before buying our own truck, we are thinking along those lines... I just got my CDL Class B through schooling and he has had his for 25+ years... How does one go about contacting/knowing GOOD Reputable Fleet Owners to speak to? We can offer several weeks out on the road as we are now empty nesters. We will be located near Knoxville area TN come August. Any insight you provide will be appreciated. We plan to attend the Expo in Ohio come July, I was wondering if that's a good way to find a company looking for a dedicated H/W Team...?

A very good way to start out is with Expeditor Services.
They will put you in a decent truck, are good with rookies, and won't play games or rip you off.

Thanks, Miss Kat. Not everyone agrees. On this question tho, it's really an indisputable answer, unless you know a good owner personally.

Does ES have trucks with anyone other than FedEx and Panther?

I know myself personally. Does that count.
I would advise driving for someone and the expo is a great place to mingle and learn quite a bit.

Dave, although the OP is likely older and probably more mature than a lot of entry level drivers, what is YOUR policy on hiring zero experience drivers ?

It would depend on several things. In this case, with one having 25 years, that is very workable. If both were new and no experience with a truck or expediting, then probably not.
Not all, but our average team is probably 15 years experience in trucking and or expediting.
We can afford to be picky. ;)
