Looking for Input on carriers Landstar, Con Way, P

I am looking for some advice or direction as to which carrier to put my cargo van on with. Hopefully some drivers/owners can help me out as to the pros and cons of Landstar, Con Way, Panther, Tri-State. I guess what I really need to know is which carrier will work with me the best and keep me busy so that I can make money. After all that is the name of the game. Take into account that I live in Ohio and consider all factors such as paid per mile, percentage, qualcomm fees, workers comp., unladen insurance costs etc.etc. I have heard mostly good things about Landstar and Con Way and some positive and negative on Tri-State and Panther. Which carriers seem to get the best freight?
Thanks

Sounds like you are doing good research. FedEx Custom Critical is a major player in this market too with many happy drivers. Is their a reason you are not considering them?

If you are in OH, I would visit some of your local truckstops and talk to some of the drivers. In addition, there are numerous posts on here that you can read.

Out of who you listed above, my personal preference would be Panther
Primary reasons are large operating area, milage rate, fuel surcharge, deadhead pay, consistant milage, accurate settlements, and minimal game playing.;)
No experience with Conway or Landstar other than talking to other drivers that have driven for them or related topics posted on here.

In a van your limited to how much freight you can carry,so your gonna have to deadhead alot to get back to were the freight is [east of the sippi] go with a company that will at least pay for your fuel to get you back into the working area. The good news is you live in O.H and there's alot of freight for vans, the bad news is there may be 20 vans a head of you,so you wait a couple days to get out and you get a 150 mile load, and if ya refuse it you get to be 12th out,if your in the western part of the state it's better, friend of mine would drive to FT Wayne from is house in the Akron area on Sunday night to make sure he got a load on Mon.Make the most of M-F cause the weekends are alot slower.
