They are to record turn downs per company policy. If you turned the load down without asking rate I am not sure what it matters. In this case their was a note saying driver wanted something longer. It is the policy it hasn't changed. We record them for a number of reasons and we try to use this information to evaluate for operations and sales.
Honestly you can and do turn loads down. I find it hard to believe people are upset if we record the information. I see everyone talking about running their business and making decisions and such. Did we all forget that we also have a business to run on our end?
I have no problem with turn downs in theory. I do have a big problem with resetting hours. The current system is not administered in a fair and even manner. If person is going to type in the rate on the turn down should he not also tell the driver the rate without being asked. I told the person I would have to dh back to where I currently am being a waste of money. He tried to convince me why it would be a good load to take proving he did not fully understand what I had said. He did not put the reason I turned down that load being where it ended as the reason which I explained. The exact same miles going to a better area I would have taken even for less money.
Until loads are offered to every person in order of the queue and turn downs are given to each that say no the system is flawed. When those who rarly say no are bumped when they do instead of people who often say no being dismissed we are being penalized for the action of a few.
Both loads they called me on yesterday I said yes they did not secure them does my record show those accepts. The day before I accepted a load to a bad area that I knew I was going to have to dh 200 miles to my current location after completing. Now I don't want to take a load that I will have a 240 mile dh after to get out of another bad area and use my entire Friday.
Just a turn down no problem so they know I should not be eligible for layover pay and be able to track if I am performing well. Being bumped because of it is wrong.
I know many of us are concerened about load 1s business as a whole and often make decisions with that in mind.
