I got the first dose. It was quick, early in the day at 9AM right when they got started. I can see how lines will be a couple of miles long later in the day. They're using an unused runway at the airport, orange cones everywhere. But they've got it down pretty good. Said they've got 2100 vaccinations today.

It was drive-thru where they just vaccinate you right there in your car. Like going to a Pony Keg (people in Cincinnati will get that).

Did they have you wait to see if you had a reaction?

I would imagine it would be harder to monitor people in a vehicle.
For mine, we sat in a area for the recommended 15 mins or longer to see if anything happened, with treatment stations set up next to us.
I waited 30 mins, I was paranoid and in no hurry. Especially, since the literature I received, said the reaction could still show up 3-4 hours later. That didn't help my paranoia :tearsofjoy:

Yeah. When they give you the shot, they write the time on your windshield. Then you follow the cone snake around to an exit where you wait the 15 minutes, and then, for lack of a better term, the Petty Functionary with a Clipboard tells you it's OK to leave.

It takes a special kind if idiot to repeatedly park thier straight truck in a no idle plug in spot at the yard......and leave their LOUD APU running all the time. Plug in and shut it off or park where all the other straight trucks with running APU's park. Total lack of respect for anyone else.

After many years of not being in the loop from my local paper. I finally accepted a 6 month trial for $1 for the digital paper.

1st time I check in and I see this?

What else have I been missing in the great city of Port Huron.

This alone was worth the buck :tearsofjoy:

Tell me about it. Any chance of my Tulips surviving this year have been dashed.
I'm starting to think mother nature really hates my Tulips :dash2:

Last week, Thursday evening I got a load from Portland, OR to Peoria, IL and I got 40 miles out of town and the van just died. Wouldn't start. Towed it in to an independent MB/Sprinter shop (mostly Sprinters be he also works on sedans). On Friday it was clear that it was the fuel pump. Got the pump in Friday afternoon, but he couldn't get to it that day, and he doesn't work on Saturdays (Jewish, from Kazakhstan) but he called a couple of friends (both former Sprinter guys at the Freightliner dealer, both also from Kazakhstan) and they replaced it Sunday morning. But replaced the fuel pump and the van started right up. No loft rack, so they did it old school. Took less than 2 hours.

On Saturday we (me and the other van driver) transferred the 650 pound pallet to another van. That was a booger to do without a forklift.

On Monday I got the same load, same pickup, same freight, different destination (Joliet) and I'll deliver that in the morning. I'm at the Pilot a few miles away. 2100 miles, Basically three 12-hour days, easy peasy. Except for the 25-40 MPH wind out of the north smacking me around the whole way. The roads were clear, but they had lots of snow in the mountains, and Wyoming was heavily covered all the way across to Cheyenne. Chilly up in those mountains, too. Single digits, and that wind.

Oh, yeah, a couple of weeks ago I was in El Paso and I started to head over to a pickup going somewhere far away, and I turned the key to start the van and nothing. It's like I didn't even turn the key. Everything else was like normal. I knew it was the starter. Original starter, 916,000 miles, got my money's worth out of it. But it took half a day to find someone who would work on it. The Freightliner place next door to the J, "We don't work on Sprinters." The Mercedes dealers, "We don't work on Sprinters older than 2010." Dodge dealer, "We don't have the software for one from 2005." I'm like, "You don't need software, it's a starter." The other Dodge dealer that would work on it can't get me in until May. The tow truck driver said he'll take it over to the place that works on his cars. A hole in the wall place right next to Ft Bliss, they had me in and out in 2 hours and most of that was waiting on the part.

After delivery in the morning I'm picking up near O'Hare and going down to Asheboro, NC.

After Asheboro, pre-planned picking up in Woolwine, VA, to St Louis.

To get from Woolwine to Pearisburg was 54 miles, and took 2.5 hours because of all the switchbacks and hairpins and OMG just shoot me.

Speaking of dying...

Currently dealing with the return of my A-fib condition. After 9 months of no known episodes, 2 days after my 2nd COVID shot, I woke up at 4am with my heart in A-fib for at least 6 hrs of awake time resulting in a ER visit. Coincidence? I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure now when I woke up after the 1st shot in a pool of sweat, it was from a A-fib episode.
Trying to shorten this up, 9 days later (yesterday), I again woke up to being in A-fib. I took my emergency medicine to avoid going to the ER. 1.5 hrs later my heart was back in normal rhythm. After further discussion with my cardiologist today. I will be going on a daily medicine to hopefully keep me in normal rhythm. I will be wearing a heart event monitor for the next 30 days. Also, on the table is discussing with a specialist if a heart ablation should be done at this point.
So fun times. I still think the vaccine triggered the return of the A-fib, but regardless I need to address my current condition and not just hope it naturally goes away...again.

Really makes me think, Hmm, was this really a good thing to do. But too late to turn back now.
I don't know what I'll do when they start pushing for booster shots

Good/Bad/Good...

Good: Planning on a return to the road on Monday or Tuesday. I want to see how I react to this new medication first. So far, business as usual.
Bad: Had another A-fib event last night.
Good: It only lasted for 1 minute (medicine helping? or a side effect which can be a increase in events), I'll vote for helping :)

Good: About 15 of my over 100 Tulips actually survived the snow and freeze to come to full bloom :happyhappy:

Good: SN15 may Launch today (Friday) weather permitting. I've been pretty obsessed with the Starship Program ;)
