load insurance

sunshine to all

sunshine to all; the company I'm looking at requires the owner to pay for all insurance, load and bob tail and since insurance isn't deductable under standard mileage, does anyone know where to get resonable load insurance? This is the first time I've been asked to pay all, so if anyone out there knows I would appreciate some direction. :)

Sunshine to all,

The company you have your Bob tail thru might be able to help with your Motor Cargo Insurance.
OOIDA is another choice or might be able to point you in the right direction.
Transport Insurance Agency. Commercial Insurance Solutions both advertise on EO.
Hope that helps.

if your going to buy their insurance, why not spend a couple bucks more and just get your own authority
one of the reasons of leasing to a company is they have the cargo insurance

I hope you have a cargo van, Pick-up truck witha Box, or the same with a van with a Box, otherwise you cannot use the standard mileage rate.
and if you are using the standard mileage rate, and have personal mileage also on that vehicle, you must deduct the personal from the full mileage total

I have all mine through TIA. The number is on this site as they advertise. You can get loadand everything at a good rate. Now if you plan to haul HazMat or household goods it can get expensive. Straight truck with Hazmat was about 12,000 to 15,000 a year. Without Hazmat I pay under 5,000 a year. The Night said go ahead and get your authority. That will run you another 400 or 500 but with some magnetic signs to cover your carrier, you can haul your own freight whne it comes up and that makes a big difference in your income. Lot to learn but it is well worth it if you find some good accounts.

Make sure your carrier will allow you to do that and keep all your records straight. Don't forget your IFTA.
