Living in Central Texas

Living where I do in central Texas, what is the method for driving for a o/o or a carrier that is 1000 or so miles north in the great mid-west? I've looked all over the archives but have not come close to this question. I am definetly a wannabee and have been researching the forums for about 3 months. By this time next year I hope to driving with a tag-a-long wife and a gasser sprinter van. We are both excited for this type of career change and looking forward to expediting. Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Don

JoDon,

Living in Texas just means that you'll spend more time living out of your vehicle while operating in and around the midwest. Expediting does have loads going into and out of Texas, but not with the same frequency as the Midwest area. If you can stay on the road until the freight takes you back home, you'll make the best revenue possible. If you let the freight dictate when you get home (flexibility) you may end up staying out longer periods of time,(longer than somebody that lives in ...let's say Ohio.) but you can still make a very good living. Your location will dictate that you run your business a little differently - but it can still be done profitably.

and a little bad news...
Sprinters are all diesels. No gassers in the works that I'm aware of.

Best of Luck,

Scott

Scott,

The first 2007 Sprinters to hit these shores are going to be gasoline powered. MBZ does not have EPA clearance for their 2007 diesel engines yet (something about not meeting the filing deadlines or some such nonsense) so the diesels will come later.
